What to do about torn foot?

Just purchased my first RBTA. I knew instantly when the LFS guy removed it from the tank there was something wrong because he removed it so quickly. Sure enough there is a tear on the foot about the size of its mouth. The nem has otherwise inflated, looks great and even ate a small piece yesterday, but its hold is so weak I have my powerheads turned off for a while. From what I have read these guys seem pretty hardy. Should it be ok? Anything I can do to facilitate healing? How long should it take to heal up?

I would surrond it with rock to help stabilize it and just keep feeding it. it should heal if it is eating.

Assuming your water conditions are in good shape, I think it is highly likely your RBTA will recover just fine in a few days.

I ripped the foot of my blue gigantea trying to move it, back in september. I thought it was going to die, or atleast looked that way for a couple weeks. It had a golf ball size chunk hanging by a thread. Quite a bit more than just a rip. It healed and is doing very well. I don't know where the chunk went.
I've also cut BTA's in half, and they look good a week later, and eat too.

I'm guessing yours will heal just fine. BTA's are pretty tough. The only thing that would concern me is the fact that yours has a new water chemistry/light schedule/intensity to acclimate to in the process of healing. Good luck.

Agree with garygb about the water param's and since it's eating it'll be ok.

I've had some practice removing them off of rocks, but it takes me about 20 minutes to do so. Just go s l o w and gently. If the foot is ina hole that's another story. :D

I'd take it back and ask for my money back and get an undamaged one... That being said really the same as keeping anemone's in general. Good water conditions / low stress environment if possible (no clowns)

Unfortunately I live 3 hours north of Minneapolis where I got it. It was my fault, I should have said no when I saw how easy it came off the rock. Hopefully it will be alright.
