I would call the manufacturer and ask what there recommendation is. I have had many rimless tanks, and have never put anything under them. But, when I saw the size you were talking about, I didn't feel confident on giving direct advice.
By the way, I recently set up a Red Sea reefer XL for a friend. If I remember right, it is right around a 130ish gallons. The set up did not come with any kind of padding.
Check with Brad (Ubaneks), he had a 200+ gallon rimless glass tank. I believe it was (6' x 3' (wide) x ~22" high. I (and a lot of other people) helped him move his tank and did not see any Styrofoam underneath.

Brad showed me a thin sheet of some electrical magnetic material that he applied to the bottom of the tank and top of his stand. The way he explained it was he could use a high voltage variable transformer to float the tank between 1/16" to 1/8" off the stand. I was always skeptical of this but he would produce very intricate schematics and quickly start into advanced statistical formulas and algorithms. I don't know what he does for a living but I watched him fill his car's gas tank from the water faucet and smoke the tires as he drove away.
On a more serious note - I am also getting ready to switch over to a rimless tank and will let you know what my manufacturer recommends, if anything. JP

Same here, I've setup quite a few rimless tanks and they all sat directly on flat and level plywood. Personally don't see any reason to, but would love to hear others input.
