What would you do?

My blonde naso stopped eating 3 days ago. I purchased her from DD about a month ago, she came in eating like a pig. She has also gotten pretty skinny but her gut is full. She looks at the food but acts like she is full.

I pulled her this morning and put her into my 40g QT with Hakari Prazipro per instructions.

I assume she has worms and sometime last week while feeding and the fish eliminated I saw in the water what I believed to be some type of intestinal worm in the water column. I've seen them many times when bringing in new fish so I am pretty sure what I saw. I can also see a small bit of something hanging out of her anus.

I also am not normally up when the sun is coming through the window and hitting the tank but this morning during my chase I realized that some of my other fish have what looks like ich on their fins. Everything was good until the tangs...

Current stocklist...

Queen Angelfish
Bellus Angelfish
Lamarc's Angelfish
Bicolor Angelfish
Flame Angelfish
Copperband Butterflyfish
Yellow Longnose Butterflyfish
Seychelles Butterflyfish
Two Spot Tang
Yellow Tang
Purple Tang
Blonde Naso Tang
Magnificent Foxface
Two Bangaii Cardinals
Two Skunk Cleaner Shrimp
Tons of BTAs
Frogspawn

I have a 100g tank I could setup if I need to put them all in QT but I am not sure the bio filter could sustain my fish and how much they eat for at least two months.

My first thoughts are treat this fish with Prazi and if she does indeed have worms then I treat the whole system with Prazi, something I have never done before... am hesitant to do, but have heard some success stories. There would be about 900g worth of water to treat.

At this point I am hoping the ich will remain minimal and the fish can fend it off on their own via water quality and their immune systems... or at least give me time to get my 100g qt ready.

So what would you do in my situation?

I would begin preparing the 100g QT as though you had no choice but to move the fish. BioSpira will help get the cycle going. Move some floss or media from the DT if you can.

If it were me, I'd move them regardless, and treat for ich and internal parasites, and let the DT sit fallow for 72 days.

But if you want to leave them in and hope their immune system fends it off, that's up to you. But I'd prepare the 100g in case of the worst case scenario.

Yeah, I'm getting the 100g ready regardless of outcome. I put so much effort into these fish, they all for the most part get along, eat well, and none are scared of me. I would hate to lose any of them...

I personally would not move them, regardless. IME naso's always have all sorts of issues, and frankly die more easily than any tang I know of.

I got her from DD with hopes that she would have a better shot of making it through. She was eating, grazing, and was friendly from the start. I've seen my fair share of unhealthy nasos come in from wholesalers.

With the amount of fish you are dealing with, you need to wait and see, IMO. You could do more harm than good.

I don't plan on moving the bunch unless I have too.

I am pretty sure she eliminated some worms. Hard to tell as I think it happened many hours ago and I think they are already breaking down. She isn't too freaked out but still won't let me get a look at her.

I tested ammonia and it was barely registering so I went ahead and did a 50% change from the display. I also added some more bio media I had in my sump. I had my QT broken down... didn't anticipate using it until my 900 was setup. Most of the fish are small to medium size but I don't think they know that.

Yesterday morning the qt didn't register any ammonia. I did a 25% water change. Ill be back tomorrow and will try to feed her.

The timeline worries me. I assume you did not quarantine but if you did, what protocol did you use? How are the other fish behaving?

If i buy from DD they spend a week in my 40 for observation. They go into the display through ttm. If i buy from somewhere else they get prazi, then copper, then ttm.

Other fish seem healthy. They are very active and energetic.

I strongly suggest that all fish go through TTM and that total observation time including TTM be 1 full month. If you want to add 3 weeks of copper after TTM at a therapeutic level, that would be even better, but at least one month of observation minimum in total counting TTM. I hope I am wrong about your particular circumstance!

Will have to see what develops in time.

I setup the 100g qt but don't think ill use it. I bought a second 360 for the move but i think it could serve as the best option for a large med tank. All it does now is hold rock, i have rubbermaids for that.

Are there any good foods with prazi already added? Last time i used it in a display we soaked flake in it. Only half of my fish are eating flake. The otheres eat mysys/brine.

The only addition since the naso and butterflys was the purple tang. That was two weeks ago if it helps with a timeline.

I am looking at any fish coming from a source which runs non-therapeutic levels of copper at approximately 24-26 days from arrival to you. If it was subsequently treated therapeutically with copper, no problem. If it was only run through TTM, it is at risk. Then watch out for behavioral issues such as not eating, slightly reclusive, avoiding lights, attracted to cleaners.

Naso was in my qt without copper just ttm on oct 26th. Purple tang added to qt on nov 6th. No copper, just ttm.

First problem i've had from DD if it tuns out to be velvet. I suspect crypto is in the tank but have not lost a fish or had any significant symptoms other than a few spots on my foxface over a year ago. Between uncle giving me night terrors about my silicone and now this my nerves are shot.

First thind i do when i get home is put two cases through my winchester and crack a beer.
