hey guys i am using reef master phosphate test. its hard to say what the phosphate really is. there is 0.0, 0.25 and 0.5.. they are pretty much similar color... and also nothing in between, only increment of 0.25. is that how it is? is that the best phosphate test i can find? (i mean in a reasonable price)

From what I've read, Phosphate tests are mostly worthless, as they're not accurate enough to do much of anything. If you want a worth while test, buy a Hanna Colorimeter/Photometer (low range).

I agree to an extent, they may not be significantly accurate but can give a hobbyist an idea of where they are with P04. Some folks in this hobby aren't going to drop $150+ on a test device although it is the best way to test.

Unless you are running a ULNS tank with pretty sensitive corals, a good test kit will do.

LaMotte - more expensive titration test but refills make it worth the initial $45 for the test (refills are 15 bucks)

Elos is another good choice as recommended above .

I use the hanah. I also use the salifert PO4 test it and find i cross checks pretty well against the photometer. It's certainly not worthless.
