a little background... I treated my clown for ich in a hospital tank for 4 weeks with Cupramine. One of the spots where ich was turned into this cottony gowth which looks like some type of fungus it has spread a lil to the dorsal fin and looks to be on the lateral line on the side where the big sopt is. I have taken the fish out and scraped it off and it comes back. Does anyone know what this is and how do I treat it properly.

Temp. 80-82
salinity 35ppt
ph 8.2
ammonia 0
nitrite 0
nitrate 0

Took a quick glance at the Gallery, but did not see a picture clear enough for an ID. I'd likely put it back in a treatment tank and hit with some Antibiotics.

Edit: ..Seeing that picture in the new link, I'd definitely move it to a treatment tank. It appears to be similar to some junk I have been chasing around lately. I'd start out with a broad spectrum antibiotic and maybe even some prazipro.

Good luck.

With any clown you have to strongly consider brooklynella, which is very contagious and particularly insidious. Even with treatment many don't make it. Little or finicky eating, skin sloughing, white patches, rapid breathing are all signs. Formalin is the suggested treatment.

From the picture it does not appear to be brook.
From the description provided it does not appear to be brook.

In this case, I would hold off on formalin unless the fish is showing signs of elevated breathing and other brook symptoms.

I don't think it's Brook either... The fish is acting very normal good appetite very active... No scratching or heavy breathing no heavy mucus. Traveller I see that you are in Northern VA what LFS do you go to ?

Depends on what I am searching for :>)

When shopping an LFS, I tend to visit Blue Ribbon Koi most frequently if not exclusively.

Are you a member of WAMAS or CMAS-MD?

I have recently been going to The Aquarium Company in Reston and I want to check out Marine Scene in Herndon soon. The LFS in my area suck. Thanks for the link i'm going to check it out.

I find them all different and have something to offer, hence worth the trip. BRK is a drive for you so I would link that trip with a run to Fins and Feathers in Ashburn ;>)
