unfortunately a cotton type growth usually means a fungal infection. maybe someone else can chime in on what is best to use to treat fungal infections.

Definetly looks like it would be a funal infection. You should repost this thread in the "Fish Disease Treatment" forum. It will definetly get good advice there.

Good luck...

it might just be trying to host something new that it has to get used to
observe before you dose any treatments...

well i dont know much about infections but i do know that a nitrate of 50 ppm is very bad!!!! and the 5 ppm f nitrite isnt good either when was the ast time you did a water change? i think u should do about a 50 percent change soon in 2 changes like 25% and then 25% again in like 2 days!

My maroon clown beats up her mouth pretty badly when she is cleaning a spawning site, but it heals up in a day or two. Could it be something like that?

she did hurt herself initially by removing some crushed corals from the aquarium floor.... to sleep on the sand i guess..... because she used to sleep on some powerheads had made a bed outta it...till we removed them from the display aquarium......

1st... dont do any kind of treatments! UNLESS the "cotton" gets bigger or spreads!!!

couple of things could of happened........

1- could be from trying to host in a coral... which will sting the fish at first until it gets established in the coral
2- moving sand or rocks around to sleep, spawn or host
3- could of just been something as simple as "cutting" itself on a rock or something and its now healing

what i would do is keep a close watch on it....... if you fish starts to act weird then put in qt tank and treat

and it staying on the bottom of the tank... clowns are know for staying in one part of the tank. they're really not the swimming kind.... only time my clown really swims a lot is to scare other fish away from his host or when he sees me coming to feed the tank

other than that he stays right by his coral

where all the pics taken the same day?

cause it looks like its kinda going away between the first 3 pics and the last 2 pics
