Hands down it's heaters for me. Mine just went out last night and my tank dropped to 71 yikes. I guess it's better than being stuck on. Who hasn't had trouble with heaters? Culprit was marineland stealth 300w

Or just take the stealth to petsmart and they give you credit towards a new one.

It was only 5 to 6 months old. I've also dealt with stray voltage in my tank from past heaters.

Marineland heaters are garbage. I just just sent back 4 of the the old stealth's that got recalled. I had one that got stuck on in my mantis tank and brought the temp up to 90 before I realized there was a problem. I dont know how my poor mantis didnt get cooked but he survived. I had another one shock the hell out of me. Even their new stealth pro sucks the big one. I've got two 200w that stopped working all together. After all the BS with marineland I went back to Ebo Jeager which is now Eheim Jeager. Hooked up a 300w to my aquacontroller and the temp stays right where I set it 77.9-78.3

For me, #1 failure are heaters. My sump is in the garage, and in the dead of winter it failed. temp dropped below 70. I'll never buy another marineland stealth or titanium heaters. When I started I as a kid, I had heaters that lasted for more than 10 years. In the last 5 years, I've had 5 failures within 3 years.

In the case of the Marineland Stealths I'm pretty sure the story goes something like this,they were originally made in Italy Then they moved the manufacturing to China and the guy who designed the heater in Italy was disappointed with the quality of the heater that was being made in china So he stopped working with Marineland and now he makes heaters for someone else, I think Aqueon In fact Marineland now makes their Maxi-Jet pumps in China instead of Italy, There's another company called Cobalt that sells the old Italian made Maxi-Jet, I'm pretty sure that is the story but if anyone knows any more details please correct me if any part is incorrect Sorry the period key stopped working on my laptop

I have also tried the new maxi jets and they are not nearly as well built as the old ones. They also are using a larger magnet with different props so the old mods can't be used (unless you have the older version magnet). then they work pretty good.
