Whats YOUR nightmare?

my previous tank which was a 50g had a leak and the water shot out of the tank literally. my brother, who doesn't know anything about aquariums called and informed me about that while i was in another country taking care of my father who just had major surgery at that time. i was so sad i couldn't even tell my brother any solution and just hanged up. my brother was able to save the leaking water with a bucket and he sticked the coral epoxy around the leak area and the leak stopped. everything survived. i came home 2 weeks later and upgraded to 150g. :D

My scariest nightmare is that i am at the end of a semester of college, senior year, and realize that i have missed a class all semester...oh man do i want this one to stop.

I guess my tank related nightmare is that i hear my ATO unit alarm in my dream...i wake and run out to the tank and find it's fine. It's happened a couple of times.

I'm glad i don't have some of the nightmares you guys have mentioned...wow

I have this exact dream too. College was 16 years ago and still have it from time to time.

I had a 120 built into the headboard of my second floor apartment. I was replacing an air pump for air wand bubblers that came with a check valve. Being the gambler that I am I decided I did not need a check valve because,I've never needed one. I went to work and found a clean up crew in my downstairs neighbors apartment and several in mine. I lost about 90 gallons off water.Apparently I did need a check valve.

Ha! That's funny. College was 30 years ago for me, and I still occasionally have this one.

I'm afraid I've lived 3 of the "power out for a week" nightmares. Hurricanes Fran, Floyd and Isabel left me without power for 10 days, 2 weeks, and 3 weeks. Hurricane Fran wiped out everything, but I learned a lesson. Floyd and Isabel just required keeping enough gas on hand to run the generator.

Tank going kaboom. Also my HOB skimmer overflowing. Which it did. Last night. Thankfully I'm so paranoid I have the drain tube in the tank for such an occasion.

A Marineland brand glass 300w heater exploded in my 480g predator tank while I was at work, and the GFCI didn't trip. Came home to a strong smell of an electrical fire. Tank water was extremely yellow, smelled like burnt plastic, had 120v electricity running through it for who knows how long... Spent all night doing the biggest water change of my life.

Sadly, I lost my Blue-Spotted Ribbontail Ray, which I had had for five years - they are a notoriously difficult species to care for and to feed, and I had done so well and beaten the odds just for that to happen. My sharks and lionfish survived tho with no apparent ill effects (in fact I still have them a decade later). I know much better now when it comes to buying quality, durable heaters.

I had all but 3.5" of water end up on the floor of my living room of a 300g tank because a fish decided to get stick in the overflow drain... Learned my lesson that day of why you shouldn't have power strips laying on the floor (couldn't get behind the tank to unplug or turn off the power strip so I had to crawl on the sopping wet floor under the tank all while being electrocuted):headwally:

circuit breaker!

My nightmare is to find all my fish and corals dead due to the exposure of tiny polymer particles from a decaying Mr Clean Magic Cleaner. I'm served a writ of animal cruelty by an armed PETA SWAT team with a no knock warrant. After breaking down the door an officer fires in error into my tank and it explodes, and water cascades through my house like the beginning if Noah's flood.

Then a big muscular bald headed guy with earnings and a white Tee shirt breaks into my house and beats me silly in my moment of grief. Then I stagger outside bleeding, only to realize I never attended half my classes in college & won't graduate. I realize my parents will disown me and I will never be invited to Thanksgiving again and will miss out on my mom's stuffing and sweet potatoes for the rest of my life.

+4 on the college class nightmares.

For the tank I'm always afraid of a slow leak that gets missed until the tanks/sumps are empty. It's that heightened sense of awareness of continually listening for the sporadic sounds of irregular water flow from 1 to 2 floors up and rushing down to the basement to see what is leaking.

+5 on the "missing college class" bad dreams. I wonder why this is such a common dream. If their is an easy answer I probably missed it due to missing a bunch of psychology classes.

The good thing about these dreams is I no longer have the wierd dreams where I showed up in elementary school in my spider man pajamas or worse, my underwear.

that must be a common one.
no idea why but i dream a few times a year about being unprepared for high school finals. pretty strange considering i'm 37 now, never dream about college and passed all my finals just fine lol.

Whats YOUR nightmare?

On the flip side, I have a recurring dream about every 2-3 months where I'm in my parents basement (where my bedroom was in high school...I don't live there now!) and open a door into a room with several tanks in it that I forgot about for a long time. Thing is, the fish, coral, etc are all doing amazingly. Giant SPS, healthy happy giant tangs, huge clams. Only dream logic allows for forgetting about an entire room of tanks, not addressing even basic physics like evaporation, etc, but it's always a fun dream. Probably speaks to my optimist streak or something.
