Thanks Paul! I don't have much more to update other than that I need to do something about the rotifer consumption! I have eggs that will hatch tonight or tomorrow night and more eggs due to hatch Sunday or Monday night! AND my snowflake x orange pair looks like they're going to lay tonight! Too many mouths to feed! :eek1:
The male onyx doesn't really know what he's doing yet so a VERY small % of the eggs were fertilized....none made it to hatching.
I have 435 orange ocellaris eggs that will be hatching in 2 days.
I have ~250 fry from Jason's pair that are now 7 days old and still have not gone through meta, though they should very soon.
The previous batch from Marlin and Pearl are getting their second stripes now and have been combined with the older striped babies in a 20 high (thanks Aqua man!). There are probably between 100-150 babies in a 20 high and it looks empty!
A few of the neon goby fry are still hanging in there and are now 16 days old. They should be going through meta in around a week or so. They're still tiny. Here's a pic from 4 days ago:
I've added a few different species to my broodstock as well....
spawning pair of scooter blennies
pair of mandarin gobies (psychadellic mandarins, not target mandarins)
pair of Coral beauty angels, which once out of QT will go into one of the 55 gallon drums that I got from reefergeorge on Thursday
male and female Queensland dottybacks that get along sometimes but when they don't get along they REALLY don't get along. This, I've been told, is typical dottyback behavior and is quite typical of a pair. I definitely have a male and female, it's just that they need to decide that they want to get along 90% of the time and the other 10% of the time just kind of squabble. I may have to put them in a bigger tank so that they've got more room to get away from each other. I'm not going to give up yet but in the meantime the female needs to "grow a pair" and start fighting back!
i just wonder were you get your enengy after i get home from work i am ready to relax. and you are raising little babies. it is real cool i really enjoy the updates.
Thanks guys It's nice to know that I have interested parties I really hope to make some headway with the different species too....as of now all I've got behind me is clownfish...haven't had any neon gobies make it through meta yet. My "life goal" related to fish is to raise/breed Interruptus angels. Some day I WILL succeed in doing that, if I'm 50 before it happens then so be it!
Panaboy, in answer to your question, I'm a student, it's not like I work a full time busy job and then come home to doing this kind of stuff. I thoroughly enjoy taking care of the babies and make time for it
