I have kept foxfaces for year and have always been curious . Where are the actual rays / spikes that inject the venom ? I have always felt they were just on the dorsal but recently heard they were also in the anul fin.

First three dorsal was what I was always told. I have been spiked a few times, and it was always dorsal- but I didnt count to acertain if it was one of the first three!

Possible dumb question--if you guys have felt them, what did they feel like. Is it like a bee sting, spider bite, or what. I take it that it is too venomous for humans.

I was stung, 3 puncture marks righ above my knuckles, quite painful initially, ran my hand under hot water to neutralize the venom proteins, but my arm had swollen up to my elbow...

its a very sore feeling, kind of a throbbing pain, my arm went back to normal after 3 days. the pain slowly subsided after about 4hrs until my arm returned to normal size.

def would not do it again.
