Here's what I got...where can I get this FRESH?

Materials:
5 Oysters
5 Mussels
5 Clams
5 Shrimp (NOT cocktail shrimp, the big scampi type w/o the head and the shell)
10 g Red Algae (Palmaria palmata, possibly Julian Sprung's brand) and/or 10 g Spirulina
Amino Acids/growth hormone for reefs

Well other that seafood wholesalers, You can pick all that up live in Garden Grove. Quite a distance from Whittier though

Most Asian markets will carry fresh seafood. Google "99 Ranch" to see if there is one near you. Not sure where you can get the algae though.

OT: Wasn't Nixon born and raised in Yorba Linda?

Garden Grove isn't bad...20 minutes or so on a sunny Saturday afternoon. Where am I going?

Nixon was born in Whittier, later resided in Yorba Linda where he has his biblioteca.

Lets see here, Brookhurst and Westminster, just south of the 22 fwy, in the plaza behind Burger King. It an Asian live seafood market. Dont know the name but its where we go to pick up all kinds of clams mussels and crab live. Again, there is no algae there.

Mixing up some pappone huh?!

I got all of the seafood parts at the Whole Foods near my house! Just find the right grocery store, that stuff is pretty readily available here in SoCal!

just go to the big one at the corner of Mac fadden and Beach, next to Le's Sandwich. That place got everything. It's used to be Kmart.

There is a place I like called "A Chau" that is located at Magnolia and Edinger. If you go up to Magnolia and Bolsa, there is another alrge asian market with a ton of seafood including ghost shrimp and these weird little ghost-fish. They stink like crazy, but make some great frozen fish food when mixed up in a food processor with some clams, snails, shrimp, scallops...

I hear that you should stay away from Oysters though. They can contain some aquatic viruses.

Actually if you are willing to wake up early Saturday morning like 2AM you can go to San Pedro by the docks and they sell fresh catch of the day stuff below market price. I was just there a few weekends ago and got a good 10lbs. of sashimi grade albacore for $20...no joke! They have alot of selections from clams, oysters, shrimp, etc. I'll get the exact directions and post it here for everyone to check out.

I'm not going there tomorrow, but the next Saturday that I'm not working, I'm going for sure. Thanks for all the input...

BpOC - Beach and La Mirada seems most reasonable. I'll try that, and if not, then I'll try those Asian markets. Thanks.
