Where do you get your frags?

I would never get a pack from anyone but the guys here on rc. I have only gotten one package that i was a little peeved about and that was only because the frags were small. And i believe he shipped the corals 2 day air. I have bought at least 15 packs from different people and have sold at least 50 packs to others. buy from the guys on here i dont think you can go wrong

Luckily for me Emster TOTM winner lives 5 minutes away and has to constantly frag his tank and offers everything at great prices.

Vivid has great stuff as Alex mentioned. The majority of my frags ave come from them. Awesome set up at the store as well. Great value and variety. I've also begun to buy from BattleCorals as well.

I've gotten a few frags from my LFS, but mostly online. Most of the stores in my area aren't able to keep sps (algae literally clogging the filters lol). And the few that do charge out the nose for common frags unfortunately..

I've had great experiences with Adam at battlecorals. Great selection, prices, and he's real down to earth and obviously a hobbyist himself. I believe i got 14 frags last time and at a great deal and everything has been growng nicely. I've also dealt with LiveAquaria. Not quite as personable but never any problems. rockymountain was good too. I've actually got my first order from wet thumb coming in on thursday. They've got a huge selection and personable too. Getting a "Tyree" hell fire, tropical punch milli, copper milli, and the double doozy (coral that's in my avatar).

So far i've been lucky enough that I haven't gotten a bag of brown sticks yet. All have retained some color, although some lost it eventually due to the transition i think. And all go in qt and through revive so not sure of pests.

I want to check out Atlantis and vivid as well. And i've been very curious about exoticfrags. Any experiences?

I'd really like to get frags from local hobbyist but there just aren't any around it seems. And I don't really know who on RC is selling/shipping frags. I hate those posts where a reefer posts a pic of a nice colony and it's followed by 10 ppl saying give me some of that! Lol so I'm kinda hesitant to bother some of the big dogs on RC. I've been pm'ing a few though

Ryanos I've always had great stuff from Atlantis, but I've also always picked them up.

I wouldn't hesitate ordering from Rocky Mountain Frags or Battlecorals. Jared and Adam have some of the nicest stuff out there. While I haven't actually ordered from them I watch their vendor forum / feedback on a daily basis.

I get mine from Gonzo, he's 30 min from me, and local friends. I tried online from the popular vendors, but half were DOA. I also find the colors to less than stellar when viewed in person. (I realize the light differences and can accept that, but from now on I ask for the conditions that the pics were taken in.)

LOL dude I think we both have a list! I've got a notebook around here somewhere where I've tried to keep track of all the online frags stores. I had a great experience with battlecorals. My original order was for ORA Red Planet, Bubblegum Milli, Shades of Fall, Garf Bonsai, $500 Efflo, Upscales Microcladus, Pink Lemonade, Shawn Bennett Yellow Tort, Tubs Pink Jade, and the Blue Clover stag. Quite a nice set of frags to get all at one place I think. And that was all for under $300. That's unheard of most other places. In fact I was skeptical at first. I asked about a couple others but he didn't have them. When my order came in I had 3 freebies to make up for what he didn't have. He also held the entire order for 2 weeks to heal up the fresh cuts and sent me several pictures of my personal order. Even changed his bulbs out to 20k's from iwasaki's to show me the color in the pics. Great guy. He's here on RC too. I can pm you his email if you'd like.

And rockymountain was good too. Little bit more pricey but lots of hard to find pieces. I got a Tubs Mystic Blue, a Northern Lights Granulosa, a Raspberyry Limeade Hyacinthus, Hawkins Echinata, and a Tyree Icefire Echinata from him. He was also very helpful about placement and lighting recommendations.

Green Mako might be one you may not have on your list. He's a former TOTM and I've yet to order from him. But his site is awesome and if he's still selling frags it's definitely worth checking into.


And sweet Mammoth. I've definitely heard a lot about them. And I've had my shopping cart filled online a few times with them too lol. But at the last minute something would come up and I'd have to hold off. Ming is Atlantis right? A lot of ppl mention him so I'm sure they're great.

Where do most of you get your frags. I see very nice tanks being set up in what looks like weeks in many threads with amazing colonies thrown in really fast.

Where do you guys get your frags or colonies from? Is it local, online, friend, do you have mother tank?

Where... and if you can please share pics and tell about the process if you bought online, where they brown and such when received and did you have to color them up or where they bright as soon as you got them?

Mann you know 2 of those really nice frags I have on my rack came from harry's frags. I'm thinking of doing an order but I only want like 3 to 4 of those frags and he does free shipping on 5 frag orders. We can go in on an order. Extreme corals has extremely nice colonies on there.

Thanks man. Yea that's really what I've been wanting to do. Order from fellow RC ppl. Because you can usually follow the persons tank progress and see the mother colony and all. I'm just a little hesitant sometimes to ask the big boys for a clipping lol. But hey the links are there Thanks Mammoth.

Sounds like a plan.. I have been wanting to try a few places out but dont really want to go up to the dollar range for free shipping on most... We need to get some of the others in on it too, like jeff and them, and see if we cant get up an order to a few of these places. Would make it easy to try out different places if we only have to spend $100 here and there and not 250 a pop.

Might want to think about doing it once a month... Like get a group together to order from a vendor... If we can get three or four people to do it everyone can have a coral or two a month and not break us trying to do it on our own.

Thanks for the feed back guys keep this thread rolling! Would like to see more pics like the ones above, possibly some a month down the road after they have colored up and all so people can see where the these cool frags are coming from.

Not to say you are wrong, but there is an LFS in the area that is soon to be carrying all kinds of stuff at really great prices. I hear if you ask they can even order stuff in for you!
