Where do you get your frags?

those frags are small compared to what we get up here in Canada !!

man some of those look like a 2 min Snack for my moorish Idol !

I get my corals from LFS, and since I have too many coral eating fish, I cant get small frags ... need to invest in a grow out tank.
 
I like to buy ORA and other LE frags from reputable RC sellers. Once in a while, I sneak up to Rhinelander and buy some corals from Diver's Den, too. In either case, I've never been "burned" or disappointed.

That being said, my reef is pretty much FULL.

Ah ok cool. And yea it's doing great. It's all settled in now and shooting off a beautiful purple rim. The white polyps are awesome too especially when its happy :)

Look like normal sized frags to me? Sure everything is bigger in Canada ;)

Anyone else get theirs from another vendor? Does anyone have any pics of up packing and what not.
 
i agree those frags are small... for canadian standards... :P

It's not that we want to be texas... it's we're cheap... and wouldn't pay for small frags... mini-colonies or nothing for my $5

hahaha lol well we got CN tower in Toronto :P haha raises our standards lol

up here, we get for 40-100 bucks a decent sized colony, but of course, the regular colors and morphs, nothing too special.
 
I have ordered from several vendors and have consistently been impressed by rockymountainfrags. He's very good to work with and will cut you custom frag packs with custom frag sizes. He also has a lot of things that are not on his site so I'd ask if there's something you've been looking for. Also it's a huge plus that I like only an hour away from him :). But seriously I have never seen such high quality frags.

I'm glad to hear battlecorals is good. I am planning an order with him very soon and he has been amazing as far as providing very accurate wysiwyg pictures by request.

In my opinion, the customer service is half the battle. Some vendors will seem like they forgot about you after you PayPal them for your order.

I've gotten a few frags from my LFS, but mostly online. Most of the stores in my area aren't able to keep sps (algae literally clogging the filters lol). And the few that do charge out the nose for common frags unfortunately..

I've had great experiences with Adam at battlecorals. Great selection, prices, and he's real down to earth and obviously a hobbyist himself. I believe i got 14 frags last time and at a great deal and everything has been growng nicely. I've also dealt with LiveAquaria. Not quite as personable but never any problems. rockymountain was good too. I've actually got my first order from wet thumb coming in on thursday. They've got a huge selection and personable too. Getting a "Tyree" hell fire, tropical punch milli, copper milli, and the double doozy (coral that's in my avatar).

So far i've been lucky enough that I haven't gotten a bag of brown sticks yet. All have retained some color, although some lost it eventually due to the transition i think. And all go in qt and through revive so not sure of pests.

I want to check out Atlantis and vivid as well. And i've been very curious about exoticfrags. Any experiences?

I'd really like to get frags from local hobbyist but there just aren't any around it seems. And I don't really know who on RC is selling/shipping frags. I hate those posts where a reefer posts a pic of a nice colony and it's followed by 10 ppl saying give me some of that! Lol so I'm kinda hesitant to bother some of the big dogs on RC. I've been pm'ing a few though ;)
