My fuse blew on my ballast today and now I need another one. I've looked everywhere. Radioshack, Ace, 2 car shops.

Tomorrow I'm going to Gateway Electronics to check.

If anyone knows where I can get one please let me know. Or if you have a lonely fuse that I can borrow call me at 314-469-8777

Can anybody even tell me what KIND of fuse I should be looking for?

It's not slow blow
It's not SFE
It's not MDL

I believe this is the size of it.

3/16 x 3/4

5mm x 20mm

It's the 2006 model. Fixture is fine, ballast had the fuse blow today. The ballast I believe is a pulse start. M137 ballast

I'm assuming you're sure it's the fuse? You didn't switch bulbs or anything like that.

BTW- Jeff, did you see my post for you on slash?

yea I saw it and responded.

anyways, it's the fuse. I took it out and I know what a blown fuse looks like.

Also, I looked at this webpage http://www.bcae1.com/fuses.htm
According to the first table you come to (about 1/4 of the way down the page) it gives you a MAXIMUM fuse size for the wire size being used. I'll need to look into the size being used, but I think it's either 12 or 10 gauge. And if I'm reading this right, it says I can use UP TO a 20 or 30 amp fuse......

Chime in if you have any knowledge of this

OK, I sure was wrong, it's 18 and 16 gauge wire....so there goes that idea.

Maybe if I use a 6.5 watt fuse. Because I found one of those.

Read your PM :D

Ok ok, last question before I go to bed.

If I can't find this stupid fuse, can I just rewire the stupid thing to use a fuse of my choice?

As long as the fuse is rated for the same amperage you should be able to put in the fuse of your choice. I would suspect that it is a 7 amp fuse.

Make sure you use the same type of fuse .i.e. slow blow or whatever it is.

Any idea of what caused it to blow? If there is something else wrong then the new fuse will blow too.
