hey guys, im looking at my options for t5 lighting. Since the tank is gonna be 36 inches long, i was gonna go w/ a 6x39 watt setup. I was wonderin where i should look for the best deal. i was looking into gettin the Tek fixture, since i want to do an open top w/ just a trim piece that goes around teh top and hang the fixture from the ceiling.

thanks guys,
Larry

I recently got a T5 24" from Drsfostersmith.com and they had the best deal for the fixture I got, I don't know if they have the exact one you are looking for but I usually just run down all the RC sponsors.

the tank is gonna be either 18, or 21 inches deep, should i get the 4x 39w .. or shoot for the 6x39

Depends on what kind of corals youd predominantly like to keep;Softies/LPS and maybe a few sps up high, go with the 4 bulb. Want SPS all over the tank?Go with the 6 bulb :)

I'm using the following bulbs combination (6x39W):

Front

Actinic +
Aquablue +
Midday
Actinic +
Aquablue +
Actinic +

Rear

For mine,
front to back:
10k
6500k GE
10k
10k
blue+
blue+,

Its pretty much a bright white tank, and will eventually swapping the 10k's out for Geismans 11k, and taking the front 10k and adding another blue+.

My tank is about 20" deep and Im able to keep my sps on the bottom without losing color or growth.

I got mine from reefgeek.com they have great customer service. I ended up getting the retro for two reasons. I wanted to build my own hood, they also come with the bulbs.

im debating between getting the fixture, and getting the retro. I want to keep it open top, and have the fixture hanging from the ceiling, and then having a trim piece around the top of the tank.

this is waht i have planned,

Very impressed with your handiwork on that hood Dave, too cool. Been putting off rewiring mine for too long now
