We're taking a long weekend vaca down in baltimore and Annopolis next weekend and i was looking for places to stop along the way that are worth while. We've been to Dr. Macs and it's a ways out for us to stop this time, but if we can hit some places on the way back it will break up the 8 hour drive.....

Thanks for any suggestions.

I was looking for the same thing when I drove back from FL in June. If you're not coming back through on Monday or Tuesday (days they are closed), I recommend you stop by Something Fishy

Yeah, but there are a couple of different routes between those two end points. I'm guessing you'd go 83 to 81, but then once in NY, would you go below the finger lakes (17 or 79) or above them (81 up to the thruway?) If you went above the finger lakes you could check out ABC in syracuse, if you haven't been there yet.

If, on the southern end, you went 95 to philly and then 476 up to 81 there would be a few interesting places, but there are a ton of toll bridges and roads on that route (like $15 - $20 worth) so probably not worthwhile. Something Fishy is nice and it's basically on this route. Also Hidden Reef in levittown, just outside of philly.

They've been working on 81 in PA just north of Scranton for about 18 months, but last time I went through (about a month ago) it was pretty clear, as if they were wrapping up soon. Of course, I thought that *last* September, too.

Well going through NYC area is out of the way mostly likely but there are two must see places in Greenwich, CT area, close to I95. There is one place in Westchester county (near White Plains) and one in Poughkeepsie area I can suggest if that is the way your going or would like to go. Let me know.

i asked about a month ago on rc and didn't get squat. have fun in baltimore. we're headed there in a couple of weeks.

the bathroom :)

in all seriousness, That Fish Place in Lancaster comes to mind... but it's kind of off your route and not really any better than our Rochester LFS's for fish and corals (JMO based on the last time I was there).

If you're coming Jersey way, Ocean GalleryII is a must stop whenever I'm in the area. A little further north and more expensive but I nice shop to visit is Absolute Fish.

Right now where we're coming from puts us on 81 into Harrisburg then up 15 to 390 into Rochester. We're going down through 81 and philly, but we could also come back that way so I can actually get stuff to bring back from ABC. I'll be going to the anniversary there so no big deal if we don't make it there on the way back.
