Which carbon/gfo reactor to get?

i am looking at getting two chemical media reactors, one for GFO and one for Carbon. What are the best options? (money not the biggest concern here --I just want to get it right the first time).

The 2 fishes Phosban 150?

Or, so far my favorite is this one that comes with a pump and is ready to "plug and play".

The other question is get two, one for carbon and one for GFO, or get one and just mix the two together? Other media reactors that I should look at?

Also, have you seen this mix of "zeolite" and Carbon?

Dual BRS GFO and Carbon Reactor I like this one th ebest you have option to run GFO and carbon...you will save in the long run

If you go the BRS route get 2 single reactors instead of the dual. You will be limited on the flow rate through your carbon chamber by the GFO (which needs a much lower flow than the carbon) if you get the dual. I have the dual and wish I did the 2 singles.

I also have the BRS Dual Reactor. I have limited outlets, so the dual works best for me. If I could, I'd do two singles though. It runs 100% fine for me though.

I have two TLF reactors daisy chained with a MJ600 and it works fine, but they are more work to clean on a tank where I have very little room under. On my second tank I have the dual BRS and this is by far the easiest reactor to clean and change media. If you get a couple extra inserts you can have your media ready to go for very quick changes. I have never had a problem with the flow rates or with getting this reactor clogged, but I have no sand in my sump. BRS in my opinion is a easier reactor to use, although I have never had any problems with TLF150.

I've enjoyed the simplicity and easy maintenance of my dual reactor from bulkreefsupply. Never had another set up in use, so I can't compare it to others, but I can't imagine things getting much simpler.

What pumps are you using with the Dual BRS Carbon and GFO reactor? BRS recommends the maxijet 1200 but can I get away with a maxijet 900 or 600?

I used to use the TLF reactors and they are just too narrow for me. I switched to a Warner Marine MR100 and couldn't be happier. Easy to maintain, which means I will actually change the media when I am supposed to.

I have both the TLF reactors and and a pair of BRS singles. Both are fine products, but if you have the space, go with the BRS singles x 2. Very easy to use and clean. I run mine off a diy manifold from the return pump. the tlf reactors work great on a minijet 400

i have used the older version tlf phosban reactor. too many nylon screws.

the brs reactor is good but still messy to change out.

the media reactor i now use is an eheim ecco 2236. holds a lot of media if you want, comes with its own pump and give fluidized (reverse) flow. it is also very easy and less messy to change than any media reactor i have encountered.

i had it lying around from my fw plant days. so i used it and love it as a media reactor. no, not a biofilter like a lot of reefers think that canister filters are only good for...a media reactor....;)

I am running 2 large BRS reactors. One with Carbon and the other with GFO. They work great and are simple to setup and maintain. My phosphates went from off the charts to nothing in a matter of a week. I am very pleased with my choice!

I literally just ordered a BRS Dual Chamber and MJ1200. Can't wait for it to come in now. After all of the research I have done, it looks like the BRS has an excellent track record.
