Which is quieter, Tunze 1073.020 or Eheim Compact 2000?
Man, You made me get up and pull out one of my from my overflow.
I've got a RSM S-400 that came with two Sicce's in the overflow box from the factory.
Red Sea had to replace those 2 times over the one year warranty period.
So I replaced them and they are the Eheim Compact 2000 rated at like 525 gph.
They are as about quiet as you expect for Eheim . What sold me was they're "Eheim" and came with a 3 year warranty.
They are quiet and haven't skipped a beat.
Yeah, DC would must likely be the quietest and I hear ya on the budget.Ha, sorry about that but thank you for going the extra mile for me. I appreciate it.
I'm currently using the Tunze and there's a hum that is pretty loud. I'm using the rubber feet so I'm pretty sure the pump just has that hum so I'm debating to change it out to the eheim which is a good match for my reefer 170. I've thought about DC pumps but quality DC pumps are a little out of my budget right now.
Glad to hear! I have a compact 3000 waiting to be setup with the new tank. I've heard great things about them and they have an awesome warranty on themJust an update. I received the eheim yesterday and installed it and what a difference. The eheim is soooooo much quieter. No more humming.

Unless something has changed over the years I have not heard about the compacts are not actually made by eheim, and they do not stand up compared to the original eheims, very different pump.
While I love Eheims I would not waste my money on a compact from them.
I have the Tunze 1073.20 right now, it's pretty quiet, but I've noticed my water level drop slightly which I assume means output has become less and that did not take long, and even cleaning it did not change much or for very long.
I've also had my tunze not start up on it's own after a PF a couple times.
I like both those companies a great deal for most products they make, but I do wish I got my standard Eheim 1262 rather than the Tunze.
DC's are a great option and silent, but the ones I consider reliable by my standards are not cheap.
The compacts are Eden pumps, which are good pumps. It's the same pumps that come with the Nyos skimmers for example.
