Who mixes their MH bulb colors?

Getting ready to start a tank upgrade, will be running 3x400 SE MH with VHO's. I've been toying with the idea of going with 2 XM 20k's on the ends for 6 or 7 hours, and run something not quite as blue, Reeflux 12k in between the XM's for 4 or 5 hours.
Anyone mix MH bulbs? Bad idea?

Hi, I had 4 Mh bulbs on a 7ft tank with two 250 watts at ends and 2 175 watts near center. After awhile, they all seemed to get replaced with slightly different bulbs, I keep them all 14k and 20k and noticed very little difference.

sure I do i like the 14k on one side and the 10k ushio on the other side with the vho's there is plenty of pop growth on one side and color on the other..

Tagging along. I've been weighing the idea too. I only have 2 20K radiums and have thinking about adding a white LED strip down the middle.

I've done it, most of the time after a couple weeks you don't really notice until you take a picture. Unless it's really extreme differences like a 14k and a 20k.

i do it. one side is 14k and the other is 10k. i didnt do it buy choice one of my bulbs when bad so i had to switch to the 10k back up.

I do it all the time.:)

I've currently got-
(2) 400w Radiums 20k
(1) 400w Reeflux 20k
(1) 400w Reeflux 12k
(4) plasmas that change color when you dim them.

I've done many different combos of 20k and 10k bulbs also.
I buy different bulb colors and brands almost every time I need bulbs, just to try them out. It's always been interesting to me see how the same corals gro and color up to different bulbs.

It does make a full tank shots look strange because nobody seems to be able to adjust the color balance to compensate for all the differrent color lights at the same time in one shot.
