Who uses Chemi-Pure?

I use Chemi-pure, it polishes up my water, leaves it crystal clear, but I think any good carbon/charcoal will do that, I just use Chemi-pure cause it comes pre-packaged and I just throw it in my sump, so it is easy to change out.

I've used it in the past. I really liked it. It's carbon with basically DI resins in it as well that remove more organics and whatnot than just running carbon alone. I used to run it all the time, but then I just bought the BRS pelletized carbon and have liked that. I need to change mine out, because now I'm becoming reliant upon carbon for clearing up my water :( My tank is all cloudy now without carbon running

I use it as well and realy like it. Keeps the tank realy clear and clean. You also have the elite stuff. Wich is a few dollars more and good

I was just PM'ing info but I guess there is no reason "not" to post here.

If you go to the chemi-pure website you will see a button for FACTORY SECONDS. These are products with damaged labels and such that they can not sell to any of the LFS's.

They have now decided to sell these items to the public at a reduced rate. You will see that you are supposed to email them for the price list of what they currently have. I have already done this and what the have right NOW is about 100 bottles of each of the following:

Chemi-pure 10 oz $4.95 each

Chemi-pure 5 oz $2.95 ea ch

Chemi-pure Elite 11.74 oz $6.95 each

Chemi-pure Elite 6.5 oz $4.95 each

We currently have in stock of 'Factory Seconds' about 100+ count of each of the four items listed above. If someone were interested in them all we can do an exact count for them.

-------------------------------------------------

Not a bad deal for those of you who use this item. I personally have used it in the past. I currently use the Rox 8.0 from BRS but I just might pick up a couple cases of this myself at the given prices.

NO - I am not affiliated with Boyd Enterprises in any capacity therefore I will not financially gain anything by posting this thread although I do know Mathew and have met Russell Boyd.

Using Chemi-pure seconds in 10oz cans is just as expensive as using the BRS cheapo lignite carbon in the 1.25lb bags. 1.25lb = 20oz, = $10; 10oz Chemipure x2 = 20oz = $10. Probably have to pay tax and shipping though, but who knows for sure (I know Chuck will :p )

I do like chemipure a lot, but haven't used it in a long time. I probably should SINCE I DON'T DO REGULAR WATER CHANGES. ( :p )

I used it on my nanocube a few years ago. I really liked it and I definatly saw a difference in the water. Though I stopped using it when I upgraded to a larger system.

*Raises Hand*

Seen it on a few different tanks (post setup) and id say it works wonders. makes everything just a little better.

On the flipside, I use a combo of Purigen and Carbon and my water is very crystal clear.

this is what i use. love it...very clear water.....change out the purigen every 3 mos. carbon 1x per month.

Supposedly you can recharge and reuse the purigen but im way too lazy for that

It's not hard to recharge the purigen. At the price it costs, it is well worth the effort. I like purigen but it is just too darn small and too much ends up leaking out the bag. At least that was my own experience with it.

I still have one case of Chemi here already. I'm picking up 2 more cases just because it's such a deal. I wait for deals on my brand of salt too (very had to find) but I currently have like 28-29 cases of it so I'm set for quite awhile on salt.

The media is very small, like fine sand. If some of it leaks out, it's no biggie in my opinion... it will just mix with the sand and remain harmless.

Never tried it on a reactor, though.

hmm ok, i think i know which media u guys r talking about know. its like i very light yellow/white media that looks like really realy small sillicone beads.

Yep - that's the stuff.
And you just soak it in bleach to recharge it.
Of course you have to rinse it very well before putting it back into use again.

Yeah, rinse it well and soak it for a few hours in a solution of water and dechlorinator to really get the bleach out.

I use two bags of Chemi-pure on my 65gal reef tank and i also use a bag of purigen for my 29Gal Biocube. Both products work very well. I buy my chemi-pure from DR. Foster & smith, 3 - 10 oz jars for $16.99.
