Both, plus a cainstr filter.
About 20 ozs in a couple of loosely packed fine mesh bags placed in a canister filter ,an old fluval, which I use for gac along with some purigen and a little polyfilter. Another 10ozs of gac is in a brs reactor .
I was using rox08 1 cup per 90gal total volume in a tlf reactor swapped out 1 x per month.I switched to bags just before summer after noticing my zoa growth slowed way down.Have some posts back then prior to the switch.
Its making sense in that is right around the time I got a frag of loisette from Brandon.Had a terrible time trying trying to keep the color.
Anyway, looking at what you guys are using im thinking Ill go back to the reactor and use 1/2 cup for the next month and move up to 2/3 the following.1 cup is definately to much for my tank in a reactor.
Reconsidering vinegar now.
Ok, Thanks for clarifying.
BTW I run rox 8 24/7 (1/3 cup per 50 gallons of water volume, ie about 2.7oz or 80grams/ml by volume) and change it monthly.
I used to use about double that, and since switching to Rox .8, I think the fine particle size didn't allow for enough flow through my reactor. So last month I changed it to half ( what you are running, I have 50 gal total), and Ive noticed a few zoa are opening back up and generally more happy.
I should note :I also dose orgagic carbon ie vodka and vinegar so the organics in my tank get reorganized via bactria and there are likely more of them than in tanks not receiving organic supplements. However, in the years befoe organic carbon dosing I always ran gac 24/7.Zoanthus and palys do very well with the vodka and vinegar.
I use a small amount of ROX in a reactor and a seperate Bio-pellet reactor, before that I used a ROX/GFO reactor..My corals look and seem much happy now that I stopped the gfo..It does take about a month before the bio-media makes a difference though..
Although Brandon I see you have two monties and a birdnest on the list of mystery deaths..Those corals do die often for no damn good reason at all lol
