Why are my snails smoking?

Most likely spawning mine did this recently as well. you can see here how cloudy my tank got.

I ran extra filtration and carbon to clear it up.

The gametes are perfectly natural and good coral food. I wouldn't worry too much about it. And a skimmer may take it out in time. These things don't start to decay for quite some time.

Every couple weeks, my asteria snail used to smoke a couple hours after the lights went out. I went in one night and noticed the water was really cloudy when it is usually chyrstal clear at night. I guess they must have been spawning.

Donââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t worry mine do this all the time, I donââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t have a skimmer and nothing happens, I have a lot of snails though.

I havent had any die as a result of a spawn event, steven liu perhaps yours spawned as a result of stress and were perishing anyways.

My tegula snails spawn after topping off with kalkwasser or pouring fresh water too close to them. Fresh water dips and pH changes are used commercially to enduce spawning. Other stresses such as cold have also been used. I think your snails smoking then dying are definitely stress related.
