my pair of black and white clowns only seem to hang out together, or be friendly towards each other, when the tank lights are off. in the mornings i actually seem them out together, acting like a clown pair. but around the time the tank lights come on the female becomes really aggressive towards the male and basically keeps him in one spot of the tank and doesn't let him out of it, i know it's sad. it's actually an improvement to what it was before. any idea why this is? and will the female become friendlier with time? (she was originally the male in an older pair before the female died) thanks!

They don't want you watching their private times.

Honestly, I don't know why they're doing it. Clowns are......well clowns. You never know how they're going to act. I bet she will become more tolerant of him as time goes on.

mine do the same thing...she gets all moody during the day and at night they won't leave each other's sides. too funny, I love clown behavior

my clowns do the exact opposite, you will not see them apart at all during the day, and at night they sleep on different sides of the aquarium at night.

+1 my clowns do the same thing.

Its part (the first part) of the pairing process, and usually a good sign, give it time they will chill together in the day soon.

They hang at night because clowns don't like the dark and they feel comforted. In the daytime, the female feels much more confident to beat up her boytoy. Mine do that too. Cant wait for them to figure it out.

mines use to be like that now she started hosting a new hammer head and the male stays in his frogspawn, now the only time they hang out is sleep time, and feeding time. Sigh clowns will be clowns
