Why does my power bil continue to rise?

That article says Natural Gas prices at a 2 year LOW.

The Majority of Edisons electricity is generated in Natural Gas plants. When is my rate going down???/

Unfortunately Edison doesn't own any power plants anymore. When our buddy Pete Wilson pushed deregulation thru the state congress, Edison was forced to sell off thier power plants. Edison is at the mercy of whatever the power plants want to charge. Another thing to thanks our government for...............

But Edison tells us on each bill what type of energy is burned to generate our power. The majority of the power that they deliver to us is generated via Natural Gas. IF the core cost of the generation is going down, why is my bill going up?

They like me this month, my bill went down $160 from last month. My buddy with a 210 gallon tank was up to $400-$500 a month, just got his bill for the month $38.

It's a long story.........................when the power industry was first deregulated, Edison was forced to sell off all it's own power plants. Who bought them?? Enron among others. When Enron & others found out that they could charge Edison whatever they wanted for power, they did. Problem was Edison was contracted to provide most of So Cal w/ power & the price they were able to charge to the consumer was limited. (Back then it was .08-.10 per kw...............The companies selling power to Edison were charging Edison upwards of $10 per kw!! Edison was losing millions & millions per day!! Now that the rate increases have been approved by the utilities commission, Edison is trying to recoup some of it's losses. Unfortunately it is us who are paying for while Dubya's friends are living high off the hog. Ask Edison stockholders how much thier stocks have dropped in the last 10 years........

Well it is a good thing Ken Lay is dead.. I sure would like to give him a piece of my mind...

And as for Bush... let's hope he loses the House and Senate in November so we can reestablish checks and balances like our founding fathers had envisioned. Siniging statements, what a crock!

also big companies can lock in natural gas rates for a year or two so even if prices fall your bill may not

Politics are interesting...

They want us to stay on Topic... REEFS ...but politics effect our reefs. in the up comming years we are going to be facing issues of epic porportions, and Reefinng my become a think for the elite.

We have Warming Oceans and dying reefs
We have harvesting of reefs
We have pollution of reefs
We have over fishing of reefs
We have the power it takes to maintain a reef

All these "political" issues are hot beds that need to be discussed and understood. We as a community need to have a voice. If we want to keep reefing into the 2020's we had better pay attention to what politics are going on today. It may be soon that the only items in our tanks will be aquacultured, that does not give us many options for Fish, and a few more ofr corals.

I will step off the soapbox.

Please note I took no side, just pointed to issues that we are facing. and there are MANY more than that short list.

What did they do with all the money from selling the power plants.

:eek2: if you guys keep talking like that....Edison is going to crawl into your window and squeez 2 3/4 bottles of copper in your system along with 1 4/6 gallon of 14% Formalin... if i were you i would stop the smack talking ASAP or stock up on a nice amount of Active Carbon!

Sure would be nice to have a roof lined with solar panels and a wind turbine in the yard. Give the finger to the electric company and make your own electricity. It's just the 50+ though that is keeping me from it.....
