Why yes, this is another 29g BC Build

Just keep him fed with good nutritional food. And remember that keeping him fed doesn't mean overfeeding and stuffing him to death while polluting your tank.

It's not a good rule, but I like the idea that if the fish is eating, it's generally healthy, and can recover from injury and some pests. If they are not eating, that's when you're in trouble. I like New Life Spectrum TherA+ food for it's nutritional content and garlic, which I believe garlic helps activate fish appetite, and is also nutritionally helpful for fishes.

Yes I know this is another interesting argument in the hobby, whether garlic in food is good or not, but any of the big $$ and rare fish collectors I know added garlic to their foods, usually in the raw form and blending and mixing it into their frozen mixes. Sorry for the derail, but just some useful advice I hope.

Don't mind the tangent at all. I already feed NLS TherA, as well as some flake and mysis shrimp. I try to switch it up. I was recommended Kanaplex if it's a bacterial infection. Any other recommendations for if I need to treat him?

Wait and see what it looks like if he takes turn south. Then post pics and such in the disease forum here for treatment options.

Hello FindingEmily - I hope you are enjoying your BC29. I too have a BC29 that has been up only for a couple of months now and have definitely enjoyed it as a good way to get back into the hobby. How have you liked your inTank baskets? I have both the media basket and the fuge - love them both. My tank has only been up for about a month and a half now and I've already had to greatly cut back my cheato - started as a tennis ball size but I swear I pulled out a football size wad last week - it was so huge and densely packed that it was affecting my flow. I have the same fuge light as you, so hopefully you are seeing good results too.
Other than the baskets, I also have the Aquaticlife 115 skimmer. It definitely took a little while to get dialed in, but the big thing with it was to extend the air hose. There are lots of forums out there talking about it, but to really use this skimmer I took it apart and extended the air hose to where it was the same height as the top of the cup. This enabled me to sit the skimmer lower and am pulling a really good foam with it now.

That'll make 5 tanks up and running total. I might have a problem.

I have 5 running when I have a QT going. Not a problem at all. :D

I agree, if he's eating then just monitor. No sense in stressing him out trying to catch him, and then into a QT. If an infection does occur, then most definitely pull him and treat.

Garlic, yes a highly debated topic for sure!. I'm in the camp of if its not naturally found in the ocean, then why feed it when the fish would never ever have been exposed to it in the wild. With that said, I'm not opposed to feeding it to a fish that is difficult to eat(it is a great appetite stimulant), but only for a short period of time. Research has shown liver damage to fish who were fed garlic long term.

Have quite a few updates. I will write something up when I'm not at work.

So goby ended up with internal parasites/intestinal worms (whichever it is). Got him in a hospital tank and went through 2 rounds of prazipro. His "scrape" has healed and his fin looks to be growing back. Deciding if I want to do a third round or just observe him for the next week.

Also, a week and a half ago I received my clownfish!

I know people get annoyed with designer clowns, but I love them. They are mocha frostbite clowns from clownfish depot. My boyfriend tracked Brian, the owner, down and Facebook and it was the most pleasant ordering experience. I got to pick these exact 2 and he sent us videos of them. I asked for tiny ones because tiny things are cute. He shipped them on a Friday from Florida and they arrived Saturday morning in California. Packaged very well with a heat pack and even threw in some pellets. He was in contact by text the entire time and answered every one of my questions. The fish arrived healthy and eating and I could not be any happier.

In a few weeks, I hope to get all 3 fish in the DT so I can take down the hospital and QT tank. I need the room for my new freshwater tank I'm picking up tomorrow.

Lastly, I may add one more fish in a few months. Not exactly sure what I want. Kinda leaning towards a helfrichi firefish.

nice clowns. Still waiting on my guy to find me a bonded pair of black ice clowns and I will trade in my single clown...

Thanks! I was definitely thinking about black ice clowns when trying to decide. I'm really interested in the whole raising clowns part of the hobby.

Have the same clowns in my tank, and they are doing the "dance". I haven't seen any eggs from them yet though.

I almost got a mated pair of black ice clowns myself, just couldn't justify the price my LFS had on them.

How do you like your Kessil? I'm torn between the Kessil and a Radion when I remove my top.

That was the debate I had too. I love the light. Surprisingly, I have little light bleed and I love how programmable it is, especially with the apex. I'm thinking about getting another one, or maybe the a160 to help with a little bit o shadowing I have (my rock work is fairly large). Part of me wants to get the ap700, but I know that would be overkill.

Now it's if I want the shimmer with kessil or the coral growth and less shadowing with radios. Thanks for the input!

Yeah the shadowing is a little difficult to work around, but I figure isn't a huge problem for most people if you don't have a very tall aquascape.

Also I think the radions shimmer looks like a disco ball. Kessil has a much more natural shimmer, which is probably the best part for me.

So for some good news..

One of the cleaner shrimp is pregnant!

Also found one asterina starfish. Must have come in on a coral, even though I dip all my corals in Revive. Deciding if I should leave it in, or take it out before I have a million.

Lastly, I have these tiny little white/clear bugs all over the glass. They look like pieces of sand, but definitely aren't. Terrible, not up close picture posted below. Any ideas?
