Scored a fresh SSC branch today, same color as Rodney's one but i can't catch the yellow in a pic. The lower branches are fusing into plates so i know it's a horizontal grower - chopped, cut and stuck all over my now SSC dominant reef :thumbsup:

Each of your responses leads me to another question.
You say you adjust nutrients by changing feeding and skimming..
What types of feeding? Fish foods, corals foods, coral supplements like a aminos or micro elements, or all of the above?
Have you ever used LEDs over a tank?

I try to feed as diverse as possible. Frozen food and Flakes to the fish. Amino's every night, once a week together with Reef Pearls.
All the amounts are adjusted looking at the overall appearance of the corals

This is a small Mille colony ( I think ) i got for 35 bucs. The only growth in 2 months is on branch that I accidentally nicked the tip off of. And it's still encrusting on the mariculture plug. It has gone from being completely rose colored to rose tips with a green base.

I knew you guys would appreciate that piece of wild SSC I have 11 individual frags of the two pieces i've scored so far spread throughout the reef lol - if i find more it's going in the tank and yes i know i have a SSC problem but i don't care.........:wildone:
That blue stag is looking very nice Michael, are those light blue growing tips or is it the LED's. Either way i like both the stags in that pic. :thumbsup:
I would agree that it's something of a crap shoot when looking at shipping tressed corals but you do get an eye for what does what in your tank after a number of years and i ignore a great many acros that i bet many would jump at simply because i know it looks much prettier in it's pastel shipping stressed state than it does when actually growing happily, don't even get me started about bloody green acros..........:deadhorse:

My blue stag is making himself right at home in the green stag lol.

Thanks for the compliment, yes that stag is starting to branch out and the tips are all new growth. What I learned with this stag is it encrusted first on the base then it doubled in thickness. Now it's starting to branch out and I think the reason is it is in a happy place right under my led fixture. At first I was getting very light in color and I thought I was not providing enough light so I ramped up the led fixture only to find out that it was the complete opposite. I will say it again LEDs are not to be underestimated as they are like little laser beams.
Also that stag just loves to eat lol

Wow, that is a nice hunk of SSC, I don't want to know how much that would cost around here, almost as much as a frag of RR Jaw Dropper!

This is a maricultured acro that is growing like crazy in my system, is on the top of one of my pillars, as best I can tell it is an a. humilis, but I'm not positive. I call it "my pet monster". I got it from dvanacker and I'm not sure where he got it from.

This is a mari cultured piece from Indo I believe (I can't recall specifically). Sold as an efllo but looks more like a soli.

This is a mari-cultured caroliniana, also I believe from Indo:

This a mari-cultured A. Surharsonoi, beautiful yellow colour. I call it "Bluth's Banana". Sadly I got some debris in the centre of it that cause tissue recession, I'm likely going to break it up and keep the biggest chunk and start over and distribute the rest as frags.

This is a wild aculeus. I had a nice colony and it too got infiltrated by debris and I broke it up. I have one good size frag that is taking on the rockwork and encrusting, and looks like this at present:
