wild SPS corals, Marshall Islands

Thanks for explanation. I know the corals will always be there. Well, unless they die out. Yes, fish do move, but if they get fished out which is happening all over the place, especially for sharks, then you will see less biodiversity on the reefs. It is happening here in the Caribbean where i live. All the reefs fished out and sharks especially. Everyone talks about the Pacific and it's troubles, but the Caribbean is worse. Some places are nice, don't get me wrong, but pollution, overfishing, and of course our favorite nuisance fish, the lion fish is causing havoc here for our fish in the Caribbean.

Enjoy it while it lasts. you may never get to see it again.

Great photos though no matter who they are from.

Such an amazing thread. Thank you so much for posting! Any new updates in the past year?

Wow,

thought this this thread was dead. Currently hanging out in Waikiki for some R&R. Went to Hanauma Bay....uugh couldn't bring myself to join and get i the water with the throngs of tourists to see a dead reef.

I'll post some updates/photo's when i get back in pocket.

Thanks for looking

This thread is waaay to nice to die. ;)

I hear you about the 'reef' at Hanauma bay, but there are a few nice fish to see there.

If you get the itch to take out a camera while in Hawaii just know you do have some followers that would love to see anything you post and live vicariously through your amazing adventures.

You sould go by the Waikiki aquarium for sure ! I was there before and saw some nice fish , just swam around flipping rocks over so the wrasses could get the small crabs .

Holy doodle! what a bunch of great dives you get to do, I am very jealous.
Not sure how I missed this thread until now but yes please keep it going.

if anyone is interested in dropping out of society for awhile, you can Google 'kwaj jobs' to see what's out here.

definitely don't consider it unless you like being outdoors, diving, boating, deep sea fishing, exploring, the beach, other cultures...the weather/temp varies only a couple degrees all year. it's pretty much 85 degrees every single day. no one wears pants, just shorts.

not trying to make anyone jealous, must wanting to share some pics.....I'm a hobbyist just like you :)

So I'm 23, I don't have a real trade profession. Would there be a job that could sustain me to live there and dive the reefs? This would be a dream to me, I will be looking into it myself but any first hand knowledge of the place would be amazing and might help me! Thanks for inspiring me to leave my 9-5 job if at all possible, amazing thread.

Also, did you have to ship in your reef setup? Could I rebuild my tank there or is equipment hard to come by?
