I currently have 2 reef tanks running and will be eliminating one of them so that I can better focus on the SPS dominated (my favorite). The SPS tank (180 gallon 72x24x24) has 3x250 HQI with 2x165 VHO actinics. I will be replacing the PH14k bulbs next month and wanted to go with a 10K for greater growth. The tank I am taking down has 3x175 MH lighting (2 HAM 14k and 1 Iwasaki 14K).
The question is will I gain anything by adding the 2 Ham 14K between the 250 HQI?
I thought that the 14K Hamiltons (very blue to me) along with the actinics would off set the new 10K bulbs.
Sound like overkill to you? That would be 3x250 HQI 10K, 2x175 14K and 330 VHO actinic over a 6 foot by 2 foot tank.
Thanks in advance for your advise.
