Will Macroalgae grow if I put it in the overflow box?

Will the macroalgae grow in the over flow box? I was wondering if the constant pressure of water gushing/ going through the overflow would be too much for the algae to handle?

some kind's will grow, however you will run a huge risk of the plumbing getting clogged and causing floods :eek1:
