Will my anemones ever take hold?

Hi-
I have bought a couple of anemones and my LFS told me to use a resin. It worked (it seems) with one, but the other one fell and i could not put it back on its base. I found a place on my LR where it seems to stand fine. Would it eventually build a base on itself, or am i better off building an another base or should i use glue, and if glue, which one?

What type of anemone? Not sure what you mean by resin but never glue or use any type of adhesive with a sea anemone to get them to attach. If healthy they will attach on their own.

I think you are talking about some kind of hard coral, not an anemone. I cannot image a LFS recommending aquastic for an anemone because, well, because it would be useless.

Please do not use resin or epoxy on an actual Anemone. That would almost be like using epoxy on our own feet to keep the socks on.

They need to be able to flex and move the foot. To prevent any decay or irritant. They also move in the event of problems to a safer spot.

I really suspect what the OP is referring to as 'anemones' are indeed some kind of hard coral. My kids always refer to my Duncan as an anemone.

Can't you tank a picture of your "anemone"? Anemone doesn't have any skeleton so you really cannot glue it down. You are likely don't have an anemone. A picture of it will clear things up.

A closer picture would be better. It is hard to tell. but that looks like a duncan.

Those look like bubble tip anemones.. Your fish store is incompetent. The epoxy won't hold them and if it does it most likely will die due to not being where it wants. That's horrible.. You need a new fish store

It is not an anemone. It looks like one of the LPS. I agree with worm5406. It looks liek a Duncan (Duncanopsammia sp. coral).
Yes you can use epoxy to attach them to rock (not anemone but with coral that have hard skeleton). One thing about epoxy is that it does not glue the coral to rock, it just form a cavity that conform to the coral and the rock. This is what hold the coral there until they grow and encrusting over the epoxy.

On my phone I don't see the standard based type to a Duncan.. But going over the picture again both are the same size and shape so I retract my last statement =).. Fuzzy pics and my cell phone don't mix I apologize..
