Will these pair up?

Hey everyone,

So last week I purchase 2 Extreme misbar ocellaris clownfish. Unfortunately I lost 1 to Brooklynella, and decided to replace him with a black ocellaris.

My question is will these 2 pair up, or will they stay separate because of their differing colors? They already seem to be getting along, but will they mate?

They should pair up without issue for you. There appears to be a decent size difference between the two, making the dominance ritual a bit easier on both fish. The larger of the two will become female, and the smaller one will be the male.

I hate to say this but it looks like your B&W may have Brooklynella as well....:(

Why do you say that? He has none of the symptoms the other clown had. If anything my Extreme Misbar has a weird discoloration on the other side of his tail that I am worried about, but the B&W seems fine to me...

Maybe you are just seeing some marine "snow" in my picture that looks suspicious, but please let me know if I am missing something. Here is another picture of her if it helps:

not looking to upset you, sorry. the white dots all over the fish in your original photo does look like ich to me but if you say it's "snow" (not sure what that means though) and is no longer on the fish, then I apologize.

What I meant by snow was loose sand that is kicked up from my pistol shrimp ,who happened to be churning up a lot. Sorry if I came off defensive, I didn't mean to, I was just worried about my new clownfish.

Anyway, ya all the sand is off his face and I still see no symptoms of either ich or Brooklynella. Thanks for your concern though :)

My orange misbar ocellaris is starting to get black spots and a darker spine. Is it possible that he is changing colors to match the new female? I highly doubt it but he is still young...

I'm 90% sure they aren't stings from my corals/RBTA. I have never once seen him hosting anything so I seriously doubt he is hosting at night and getting stung.

I don't think you'll have a problem with them pairing up...just give it time. I had a similar issue with clowns pairing and actually hosting...now...they're laying eggs and hosting..good luck..

They have been hanging out together ever since I put them in, so that wasn't the issue, but now I'm curious as to why my orange clown is getting darker...

Your misbar looks like a naked clown. Those 2 would throw some nice offspring if they do pair. I've been thinking of getting another B&W to go with some picasso babies I just picked up.
