Seriously though - sorry for your loss. I had mine stolen too once just before thanksgiving a few years back. it turned up on Friday when I was out of town for Thanksgiving and needed to pay about $350 just to get the P.O.S out of storage to prevent another $50/day bill. Turns out the dumb punks ran the battery totally dead with the AC on when it was about 50F outside, and tried like hell to find the CD changer that no longer existed except for the controller which remained on the dash (read- Bait). Bstrds tired to rip the factory stereo out but couldn't get passed the ash tray which they only partially ripped out beyond repair. Further that they smoked while laying down on the floorboard while trying to figure out how to get at the ash tray and left ashes all over the floor. Personally, after a few days of it being stolen I was thinking - let 'em have it. But it turns out I still got burned for the extra $350 plus the damage they did internally. Ended up donating the car a year or two later since it wouldn't pass smog and I didn't want to put any more money into it.

Again, hope things work out for you better than the did for me.

It was almost surreal coming out and not seeing the car. We both were like, 'Dude, this is not funny...where did you move the freakin car?' The bastards! We had some nice stuff for ya'll lined up for the Xmas party that we were picking up in in SoCal. There was some livestock in the trunk already - I fear the worst.

And Sheila... she will be missed dearly. Just spent damn $150 on updated maps and traffic alert services LAST FRIDAY for her. So if ya'll see a Garmin NUVI 660 come up for sale real cheap without the usual docs/boxes/etc. out of the SoCal area, please lemme know. She loves long drives along the coast, has a quirky Australian accent, and can be very bossy at times if you don't follow her directions. I will be in mourning...

Oh...since I cannot call you Paul, I did call up Garmin. They are not able to track the GPS units, but can place an alert on my account so if somebody calls to inquire/etc. they can alert the authorities. Really, unless somebody is just plain stupid - who the hell would call and ask for support on a stolen product? "Yeah, I just stole this GPS unit... and it did not come with the manual, can I get another one? Receipt? No, the guy I stole it from would not give me one."

I bought a used GPS off fleabay a while back and the first time it crossed my mind that it could've been stolen was when I called tech support to update the mapware and the tech checked the serial against their database. Lucky for me it was not stolen.

Lucky for the thieves, I JUST updated the maps and renewed my annual traffic alert subscription. So they should be good for the next year or so. I am just that nice of a guy.

Ha!! She did get confused sometimes didn't she? Hey, I am sure they just decided to pick up and move that Wal-Mart in Florida a couple blocks down the road because it had better scenery. As for the boat docks she 'lost'- well, I have no excuse for her other than she was upset we were leaving her in the car while going out for the boat ride. C'mon Brooke - you had to admit Sheila was good times! You never knew where she would take you, but dammit you will arrive on time!

Thanks again for all of the best wishes. I hope my car shows up at some point but am not crossing my fingers. I had my GPS in it too so whoever took it made out like a bandit. The worst part is that I paid cash for the car about a month ago and was on the fence of liability vs. full coverage... I wish I would have gone to the other side of that fence.

Sucks. My buddy had his vehicle stolen down south and had to go all the way down there to sign a waiver once it was recovered, so look forward in doing that in the future as well. Sorry to hear your loss.
