Someone on here locally to me is selling a 24x15 light, MH/PC combo

i want to run it on a 29 gallon which is 30x12

that extra 3 inches is worrying me. id probably put on a topless hood, but im still worried about the extra 3 inches

i would be hanging it, not putting it on with legs, and i want it to be clean, no light bleeding all over the outside of the tank

my 29 is run with same ammount of light, i think its perfect

im actually planning to upgrade to that exact light you have there, but only a retrofit in a canopy

I looked into purchasing a MH/PC combo light last year . I never actually saw one mounted on a 12" wide tank, but with the light being 15" wide I believe the PC lights would spill onto the floor. I was going to sit it on my glass cover but the Current USA tech said it was too wide and would make the room look like a "parking lot" Orbit is coming out with a new T-5 light in November. Maybe you should wait. R

I also have a 29 gallon and what I did was I bult a new canopy and put a 150 watt mh pendant in my hood a long with 2 65 watt pcs so its exactly the same as this, and it fits perfect

no heat problems at all, only before i added a fan blowing accross the water

i made it 9 inches high and then 15" wide so it covered the back area of the tank (not very tidy)
