Chuck, I'm sorry for your bad experience. FCC regulations apply, as Rose said, to all of the companies discussed here.
Cell 911 works, I have tried it with nextel, sprint (before the merge) AT&T years ago.
Also Chuck, it would seem that you felt you were being trashed with no one typing your name.
What I believe was being suggested is that you gather your thoughts and condense them into a clear and concise post that says what you want to say rather then posting 6 or 7 consecutive small posts. You also appear to have a lot of hostility.
And back to your bad experience and cell 911; if you dial *999 on your cell phone an operator is on in seconds. Simply say you need emergency assistance, fire, ambulance, police, whatever and what town you are in and within 5 seconds you will have the appropriate local 911 operator. I have used this service method without fail since I got my first cell phone in 1993. I am in my car for 4 to 5 hours a day and I see a lot of bad things happen.
BOTR, I am unhappy with the services of SBC, AT&T, or whatever name is on the company. I do not take for granted what I pay hard earned dollars for. The telecommunications companies serving our beautiful country recieved government subsidies for years to improve infrastructure that lined peoples pockets or was squandered. People in other countries laugh at our phone service. This is not a knock at linemen, operators, customer service workers or anyone else below corporate management. All of you do the best job you can with the resources you are provided. But if the aforementioned subsidies had been spent wisely every one of us would have a fiber line coming to our service entry.
Now lets have a virtual reality brew and shake hands.
Back on Topic; what service area does WOW cover? I went to their site and punched in a lot of zip codes and all got the message "We're sorry, no service in your area."
