Wow, octopus keeping has changed.

I feel pretty darn old for being 17. I remember just a couple of years ago, how difficult it was to get a captive bred bimac and how people were just testing the water with breeding. It seems nowadays bimacs are old business and cuttlefish are now the next hurdle to be challenged. But I do have a few quick questions before I decide to make the octopus jump again after a 2-3 years hiatus. First, after doing a bit of research, Iââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢ve learned that my best bet would be www.octopets.com. If I were to order some clams and guppies from them, could I keep them together in the same 10g tank, is that combatible? Thanks for all your help...

Hi
Well you can keep the clams in with the octopus with no problem but you will never know when he feeds if he has abundant food around him all the time. You may also not see him as ofter if constant food is always around. You are better off setting select feeding times to get your octopus used to interacting with you and getting to know you as the food god. As for the guppies, they will be great for a cuttlefish but unless you hand them to your octopus he may not be able to catch them. He will try though and it will provide good exercise till he catches one gets bord with it . Some fish can also peck at a small octopuses eyes so you will need to keep a eye out for this.
