Wow, the Phoenix 14K DE is awesome

JSWeir, that's a great photo. I've got too much "Stuff" floating in my water for a shot like that. Your water seems Crystal Clear.
Looks like some nice corals in there.

I've been running my Phoenix 14K 250W DE on an HQI ballast (AquaMedic) for 3 weeks, and it's bluer than blue. This is my first experience with this bulb.

I'm hoping it whitens a little, since it's far too blue for my taste. Can I expect this to happen?

I jumped on the band wagon as well about 4 months ago. for the first month I thought it was way to blue for my taste.

Now that its broken in, its a nice white color and actually is ok, IMO, but I still dont think its as bright as an ushio.

not a bad bulb, but I like something a little brighter.

goby x 2....:) I like it..funny!

I think one day i walked by my tank and was like...."hey, it looks white!" maybe around a month I noticed it. The second day I had it I wanted to get rid of it....to blue. But like I said, now its ok, but I will probably switch back to the ushio on my next bulb change.

Goby x 2 :)

on a side note. The Dudesters pic is a good representation of color...atleast it looks about the same in my tank.

My buddy ran Phoenix in his ASL for a while and swears that it turned his blue/purple corals green. He wasn't too happy when he ended up with a large green purple monster. He switched to Hamilton 14k's and says his colors are slowly returning. So in my new Ocean Light pendants I'm starting off with the Hamiltons instead.

Ya I have Larry Jackson...it turned a dark green almost like a forest green color. Also had a frag of monti cap that was green with purple rim....it lost all the purple.

weird..

Hmmm I also have the Larry Jackson and my tips are very bright blue and the branches are a golden color. I've been running Pheonix 14K for several months now too..

Pretty sure I got my LJ from the same place Goby did. The Abyss right Goby???

Chris

not sure where it came from. I'm am actually holding it for a friend( dont worry he knows :) ) and he got it from someone who broke their tank down....so no clue where it came from.

Well, I used Phoenix 14K on IceCap Ballast for about 5 months with no actinic. The SPS looked nice at first, and then blue stuff turned into teal and teal stuff tirned into green. Just switched to 10K ReefLux.

I've been running the AC14 and now the Phoenix 14K(supposed to be the same bulb) for over a year. Run on CV eballasts. 6" over the water. My blues and purples have not washed out. In fact after I replaced the AC14 with the Phoenix after 11 mo the colors have deepened. The latest pics in my gallery were soon after I changed over.

Thought I'd post a pic of my 14k's. I just switched over to them about 1 week ago from the AB13K. Here is a pic of the difference

I agree. I love the pheonix bulbs. And the growth of the few corals in my tank is awsome. in only 1 week I have seen new mushrooms pop out of the rockwork and start to grow. and my montiporas are polyping more than they ever have.
