WP25/40 No more?!

I agree. I have the Maxspect Razor from Coralvue. I love it but but you can see that the quality of the grey housing is not top notch but its only $500. I feel I got my moneys worth with it though. Actually it was $450 when it first came out. I agree the Ecotech powerheads are overpriced but most people agree that they are the best. I have never used Tunze. I don't like the idea of buying a separate controller.

This whole thing is making me laugh. Your better off not buying that junk. This thing sounds like a smaller scale of when you could buy cheap knock off Louis Vuitton handbags made in China and sold on ebay and every flea market in the US at least on the east coast. Then ebay was sued from Louis Vuitton. In the end you always get what you pay for in terms of quality.

This makes me laugh.

You can buy 5 wp-40s for the price of one single mp-40. By the time you are on your fifth, your mp-40 warranty will have expired long before, and you will be replacing dry sides and bearings....possibly multiple times. All of a sudden, you could have bought 6 wp-40s for the price off keeping these overpriced mp-40s after one single repair. 1 year warranty for a $465 item which only moves water is almost insulting at that price tag. I would expect at least 3 years if it is such a outstanding product.....

Junk or not, the numbers don't lie.....

I don't know about you but I don't like having inferior products on my aquarium. My MP40 is 1 year old and works like new. They claim a 1 year warranty but they have excellent customer service and I would think they will take care of the customer if something just goes bad and you cleaned the wetside regularly. There is no other maintenance.

when it comes down to it though:

2 tunze 6105's with controller = $779.37, 3 with controller = 1092.56, 4 with controller = 1405.75

2 mp40's = 929.98, 3 mp40's = 1394.97, 4 mp40's = 1859.96

so tunze is actually cheapereven if you account for buying a seperate controller + you don't have to buy the controller again unless your running more than 4 pumps. vortech adds the cost of a controller for each pump which makes them more costly.

They won't make it past customs.

not even close to true. customs is not anywhere near as good as most people think they are. I've been working in intl logistics for a number of years & I've had shipments show up at my dock without clearance or a delivery notice from my trucker... & this isn't some rinky dink port, this is the port of NY.

Not sure if they could...do they have to declare what is in the box? (What's in the box??!! )

They themselves may choose not to. Maybe they will. I guess this was just filed today? We'll see where it goes.

They declare the manufacturing country, the HTSUS(tarrif code), the amount. that's pretty much it. the shipper would be fish street so as far as customs is concerned jebao isn't even on there...

They X-ray the package just like we do at work. Pretty detailed and non-invasive. Wouldn't be hard to flag certain ship from addresses and then take the time to scan them.

It depends on how they come in. if a group of them come in via a container ship the odds of it actually being scanned is pretty remote(yes even coming from China) If it's fedex/ups I can't speak to how often they scan packages but i can guarantee you it isn't every one. The time and manpower to handle xraying & analyzing every single package is nearly impossible.

random article if you're interested in how efficient customs is & what would happen if they scanned 100% of their containers like most people assume they do(or close to it)

My feeling is people have money for what they want in life. You see people at the food store buying groceries with their foodstamps card but then pay cash for some cigarettes. This is not a cheap hobby. If you buy inferior products you will regret it later.

It's this type of elitism that is annoying and insulting. You think that since you pay more for a product you are above people that decide a different product is what they would rather invest their money in. Your food stamp analogy is nothing more than disrespectful.

Who are you to say people are not getting their moneys worth of these pumps? It's only okay to buy 'inferior' equipment when it suits YOUR needs? Unless you own or tested one of these pumps, I'd suggest you refrain from giving a review.

I prefer these pumps over an MP40. Hence why I sold mine, so here's one that does not agree they are the best.

The difference between these and counterfeit products is, well, these are not counterfeits. So to compare them to counterfeit products is incorrect. They are a product on their own right. They might look like a Tunze, but that's where the similarities end (outside of moving water of course).

This rational is whats wrong with our world in my opinion, and that's what it is, my opinion. We buy everything as cheap as we can with the expectation that we will just throw it away when it breaks, this is what companies like Jaebo are built on.
I bought a used Mp-40 not long ago and come to find out the magnet inside was split and needed to be replaced. I contacted Ecotech and their response was, send it to us and we will fix it, for free. They had no obligation to do that on a second hand pump that is 2 years old and not under any kind of warranty anymore. This is why I will always support companies like Ecotech and Tunze.
This argument for me has never been about the money and I am a father of 2 with a single income. I want to know that what I buy will last and the company will take care of me. Jaebo fans openly admit that they are a horrible company for support but because the cost is so low they are willing to forget that. Supporting companies like this over the long term will lead to a completely disposable society IMO.

God you just failed..... this whole post is so fail.. LMAO

So you can purchase a razor but stick your nose in the air to a jebao.

Man,can that pump move some serious water.(wp40).

Man, can that pump cause an uproar :lmao:

I think whats wrong with society is that most of the population feels nessesary to create about 8 different threads, some of which are 10+ pages debating over a device that moves water in our aquariums, atleast it feels that way here on RC lately...If only we were this passionate about our politics. :debi:

But please, carry on everyone..:lol2:

Just because it's Chinese, does not mean it's junk. Is the build quality up there with Eco-tech and Tunze?... by no means! But I am really impressed with the build quality for what the price is.
Cheers,
I don't see as many posts about it being junk just because it is chinese as I do see posts about the fact that they are knock-offs. No design on their end, they just steal and profit.

I would be interested in hearing you further explain the last part about the build quality. Comparing the pump to the tunze, what are you finding is inferior?

Not necessarily steal.

They borrowed the idea and made it better.

Just how Microsoft "borrowed" Unix, but never really made it better lol

LOL, you must not follow too many political forums. They are much worse than this. :)

I see them as similar, but they would need to do some engineering. The housing are not the same, the tank mount is not the same, the motors are not the same, the controller is not the same. Other than both are DC and use a prop, I don't see how it claimed they stole their design.
