Wrasse combo?-Hunter, Marshall, other experts?

OK so my LFS brought in 4 beautiful flame wrasses so I just got a male.
With the already existing Pintail, Blue Flasher, and Lubbocks I am thinking of just 1 more.

Would you be ok adding a Male Lineatus as the last addition to this mixture of wrasses?

The lineatus will be the most aggressive species of the ones you mentioned so adding him last is best, but I havent found lineatus wrasses to be too terribly aggressive anyway.

Cool thanks
Unrelated but if adding a wrasse to a tank where the other wrasses are not aggressive and could care less when the box is in the tank with the newbies, what is the shortest time you would leave them in the acclamation box?

my lineatus female is not aggressive at all, i've heard some tales though. Use a box when adding all those wrasse and you should be fine.

I've put the box in the DT in the morning, and if no one bothered them, I added them to the tank just before lights out

Same here. Recently when I used my acclimation box on my C. cf lanceolatus, it was only in the tank tank for about an hour when it was accidentally released into the tank! My P. attenuatus jumped into the acclimation box when I was trying to feed the Pintail, and when I tried to get him out, the Pintail ended up "escaping" into the tank! No isssues at all though from the other Wrasses though.

As far as your individual case, I would recommend getting a juvenile C. lineatus vs. a terminal male. Although females can be on the aggressive side, juveniles are more on the mellow side, are much less expensive, and ship better.

Does the juvenile always turn into the stunner like on hunters avatar? I had one that looked just like that sometime ago but unfortunately only for a short time as it succumbed to swimbladder. Fortunately a DD guarantee. If it does turn into that, how long does it typically take for a juvenile?

Thanks Marshall.

They usually turn male in a tank, particularly when kept with other fairy wrasses. How long it takes to turn varies on a number of factors, usually 3-6 months, but in some cases up to a year.

The advice on getting juvenile and females is good because they definitely ship better than males, but if you lack the patience to wait for it to transition then there is nothing wrong with getting one that is already male.

Eventually & usually, yes.

But the "how long" question is really impossible to answer; too many variables. My blanket answer for that question is a few weeks to many, many months (>12).
