Hi all, I've got a lot of live sand that is leftover from a recent tank teardown. I'd like to see if anyone wants it and is willing to trade for some beginner corals??? I'm not picky, just looking for easy stuff to fill the empty spots in my reef tank. Thank you in advance!

btw, it's Caribsea Fiji Pink and Regular Grade mixed together.

Sorry bud. Old sand is a bad thing. Only way it's useable is to kill it and start over.

Good luck. Your gonna need a ton of salt water to rinse it enough to be usable. And yes by then it’ll be basically worthless.

Used sand is as goood as dead. I’m just trying to make sure someone doesn’t take someone’s old sand and put it in there tank.

You would use so mush SW. It needs to be rinsed with a hose till the water turns clear. Then you would need to cycle it

I think you're being extremely rude and nasty by calling this sand worthless. It's still currently in saltwater and still smells fresh to me, no rotten egg smell and it's Caribsea Fiji Pink sand so I'm not going to just throw it out. Even if it was "dead sand" as you put it, it can still be rinsed until the water was clear and reused. With your logic, everyone should throw out their dead rock or never buy dead rock from BRS. What's the difference? And by the way, I'm asking for beginner corals. I'm not asking for a Jason Fox Homewrecker, so I don't think I'm being unreasonable.

I ever meant to be rude.

I’m just trying to make sure you don’t convince some newbie to take your sand and put it in there tank without steps being taken to make it safe.

On a side note, where are you located? I’m in Fremont, and if you want some beginner zoas, I’ll give you a frag of gorilla nipples and you can keep your sand.

See, I’m not mean.

Thank you for your offer. I accept. I'll pm you. Thanks again.
