Xenia only grows upward

I got my xenia about a month ago, 1 stalk, about the size of a broccoli. It is growing like mad, but it only grows vertical, not outward. The head is about the exact same size as it was, I just have a 6 inch longer stem. It's starting to look kindof ugly with just a long stem and and a dinky head. Are they supposed to spread out wide too?

What type of light do you have? It sounds like its reaching for the light to me...

Yea I figured that was probably the problem. Its just under the standard aquapod lighting right now (64w PC or something?). It's going to be moved to my new 90g reef with T5's once that is cycled though.

Attach a piece of rubble rock next to it and make sure that it is touching it just a bit. Provide some flow and it will soon attach itself to the new rubble rock. That's how I get mine to spread throughout the tank. Xenias love high lighting and will spread near the top of the tank.
