After a month of cycling my 35g I finally got my first fish this weekend :D

I decided to go with True Perc's as the pair for my tank, thanks to everyone at Reefcentral for helping me establish a healthy aquarium!

Bella is less than 2 inches long, hope she enjoys her new home :D

Bella loves the additional water flow provided by the MaxiJet 1200, so much so that she hasn't even decided to explore the LR or the bottom of the tank for 3 days now! She'd much rather play in the current on the top of the tank all day, everyday. Is that normal?

Congratulations! She's beautiful, and it looks like you've given her a nice home...now she just needs a mate. ;)

I just added a second powerhead to my tank, and my ocellaris pair spend a lot of time playing in the current, too. From what I've read/heard, perculas also tend to spend more time at the top of the tank than other clownfish species.

ETA: If your tank is still cycling, be very careful to watch your fish and monitor your water parameters over the next several weeks.

Thank you velvet!

I'm glad to hear about Percs being playful swimmers, I thought maybe I picked out the crazy fish :p

The 1200 is very strong, so I do turn it off at feeding time to make things easier for her. Otherwise, it was a great $30 investment! :fun4:

you got one good looking true perc, i suggeset not getting a hostable anemone so he doesnt lose that amazing black!

nice tank, I have a tank similar and size with same light with glass top. i took, the feet off and set small 1/2 pieces of rubber about the size of a quarter on each corner of light so to create an air gap. Having the light close to the glass makes the tank easier to look at.

+1  Looking good! The black sand is a great touch

Thank you! I had never heard about clowns losing their colors due to hosting anemones. Is this for all clowns and all species of anemones or is this limited to true percs and certain anemone species?

Thanks for the reply and your post. I think I'm going to do exactly what you describe, great idea and totally agreed. :D

@ Henry Thank you! :D

@ Clowns Thank you and agreed! Initially I said I'd wait 2 weeks to make sure she does well before adding a mate, not sure if I'll be able to hold out though. Looking good so far, she eats like a champ! :fish1:

I think you'll really enjoy your clowns. Clownfish have lots of personality. My B&W ocellaris remind me of goofy, friendly puppy dogs sometimes. :)

Nice color for sure.
The deal w/ hosting nems affecting color has been brought up a bit lately.
I'm not positive if it's to do w/ an unatural host, or that BTA's(thats what I see most claimed to be reason for change) may effect percs losing darker color.
I have noticed my picassos losing dark color after intro of my BTA's

My g/f said the same thing this weekend as she watched her play in the powerhead jetstream for hours on end :D

That is a gorgeous Onyx Percula. Id venture to say it was wild caught. Please watch for sines of Brook.

Thank you jt! I will do my best to make sure all is well.

Thanks for posting davocean. That's really interesting about BTA's and color changes in clowns. Is that specifically for BTA's or is that ocurring with other anemone species too?

Great job congrats!

Thank you!
