Lately i have been busy battling cyano bacteria and dinoflagellates.

I defeated the cyano with the help of a miracle product.
Which is...

Boyd Chemiclean!! Its a 48hours treatment.
I offed my skimmer, removed my activated carbon during the treatment.
I will show you guys the magic.

Next battle will be dino. I will try the miracle "ultra dino x" by fauna marin. Hope it works, and i will too, take before and after pictures to share with you guys [emoji16] [emoji16]

Yeah, whats up with the condensation? Chemiclean is just a band aid too, it will come back. Some use it on the regular and some use a lights out method ever now and then.

Colours look amazing. But be careful with Ultra Algaex. It takes weeks for it to work and your acros can suffer.

YDKM, did You notice if Cyano came after temperature increase?

My hypothesis is that red slime always come over algal coating. Tempe increase leads to increased bacterial work, which increases transformation of organic matter in ammonia, fueling algae.

Keeping a steady situation usually leads to spontaneous cyano and algae disappearing.

The greater is the difference in the temperature between winter and summer, and the younger is the tank, the larger is the cyano outbreak.

A possible solution is to keep a stable temperature all year long.

Great FTS! Good grief, why so much condensation?

Condensation due to the room where my tank is, is warm. About 29 deg c.
Your colors are simply amazing.

Thanks guys!
Tonight i am starting my first dose of algae x. If i read the instructions correct, dose every 2 days until the algae gone, then start to wc + run activated carbon. Reduce to 6hours lighting period as well.

Is this right sahin?

Hi ink, i am currently running AIO pellet, and i have put too much in the reactor to the point it is not tumbling well. My cyano is due to excessove carbon sources. Good hypothesis there (:
very nice sps collection
Thankyou!

Heres a FTS with all 8tube on.
Previous post fts was 2tube.

Looking great. I forgot the dosage and length of treatment for the ultra algaex. You should be ablE to find a thread or two on this forum though.

Hi guys! Its been a long time since i update. Have been so busy battling dinoflagellates for months and im glad to say i won the battle.

- ultra algae X, have been dosing it every 2days for 2 weeks. At first, all dinos turned white. I run filter sock and scrubbed it off all of them and it seems great. However after a week, all the dinoflagellatez returned.

Then i proceed to no WC and no dosing of any supplements for a month.

Then after, 3 days black out. All dinoflagellates turned white again. And i did the same thing, run filter sock and scrubbed everything away. Run rowaphos as well.
After the black out, my t5 lighting period was 4hr daily for 1 week. And gradually raising it by 1hr every week. Currently im at 9hr daily.
Its been 4-5weeks, none of them came back.

I think i can conclude that 3day blackout + stopping wc and dosing + start low hours of lighting period is the key to battle dinoflagellate.

3day blackout and 4hr lighting period daily have drawback though. Most of my SPS colour loss. Some went very pale. Some went brown.

But right now, all of the colours is slowly coming back at a steady phase.

This green stag of mine in the middle of the tank will show how bad the color loss is compared to my FTS in the previous post

Wow, what an ordeal. Glad you won the battle! The corals still look good, just pale, so you must be relieved that nothing died on you.
