Yellow clown goby SPS polyp muncher?

Big and Evil
I have seen my yellow clown goby nipping at two recently added SPS frags. Both frags have stopped extending thier polyps at all. Is the clown eating the polyps or picking bits of food off it. If it is eating I am in big trouble as this half inch fish will never get caught out of my 210 gallon reef.

I have a Yellow Clown Goby in 28 gallon tank and he seems to always eat algae or food off the green slimer I have in there. The green slimer used to look great with polyps out, now they are never out but the slimer is still growing like a weed. So I guess he is not hurting the coral just making it mad.

They do that to kill off the bottom polyps to make a nesting site for their eggs. In the wild, this causes the coral to die at the base but keep growing at the top so a protective "cage" is formed where they can make their home. It's not a problem on a natural reef, but not so good in the confines of a tank with small frags.

I had one in my 50 gal that killed a couple small colonies of sps before I could catch him. I'll never get one again!

or put in a maxijet powerhead. that's what got mine. forgot to put the strainer on the intake and it went up in there to "hide".

it was it's last game of hide and seek. RIP.
