The yellow foot and the scattered purple tentacles point to it being a H. malu rather than H. crispa. (Both are commonly referred to as sebae) The difference is that H. malu is a sand dwelling anemone where H. crispa prefers to be attached to rocks or on the rock/sand interface.

It's a H Malu and dyed yellow foot??? Oh ok...

Im still positive it's crispa and the foot could be dyed but we will see as time goes...

It is dyed yellow, all of it not just the foot. Is it just me (and my monitor) or everybody see the yellow water in that bucket also?

Must be the yellow water in the bucket...

I just wanted to share my nem that's all.

I think they were just trying to warn you. The tentacle color isn't natural, meaning it was dyed yellow and won't stay yellow. More importantly, the process of turning them yellow usually leads to their death after a few months, regardless of the care they receive. You've taken on a very challenging pet. In addition, if it is a sand anemone as mentioned aboved, you would want to know that if you plan to keep it. I don't think anyone here has meant any harm to you for posting.

Sorry nemoboy1.
I think that the picture show a H. malu that was recently dyed. The water in the bucket is yellow is due to the dye coming off the tissue of the anemone. Some of the dyed anemone (most often H. crispa and H. malu) recovered but not many. When it recovered, it will loose the yellow color and become brown. Good luck with the anemone, we often do not see H. malu. If it live, you have a less commonly seen anemone that will not got too large (only about 8 inches or so) and can be keep in a 30ish gallon aquarium.
Please don't take what I wrote as something critical to you. I am sorry if I offended you.

I don't think it is dyed. I have seen pics of natural malus like this one. I don't think it would have the random pink tentacles if it was dyed.
According to Fautin & Allen, the column of H. malu is often cream or yellow, with or without yellow or orange splotching.

That's crazy! I have NEVER seen a healthy anemone with a translucent yellow like that. But far be it from me to argue with you, phender.

Nemoboy1, is there ANY part of that anemone that's white or cream colored? Like the underside of the oral disc maybe? I can't ever recall seeing a brightly colored nem that was the same color from foot to tentacles before. For your sake, I hope it's not dyed.

I have seen yellow columned H. malus before, and they didn't look anything like that.

JMO, it is dyed.

No, most "peeps" here don't, they are actually trying to help you. However it wasn't what you wanted to hear, so you are taking it as an attack -- too bad, you are going to miss out on a lot of experienced people wanting to help you.

I'm not criticizing, sorry. It's just dyed is all. Not just the foot - the entire anemone. Yellow is not a natural color for this anemone, particularly the neon yellow your anemone is exhibiting. If you do a search you will see other people with dyed anemones (same color) and how the yellow will wear off within a few months. Looks like an H. crispa, IMHO. The pink looks suspiciously like pink dye - another common dyed color.

No worrys...if it's dyed we shall see in a few months if it survives... But I've kept bleached sebae before and brought it back to health... Oral disc is white...

Here's a picture of a small H.malu which I recently bought. It's tiny, circa 2" but the yellow/orange column and foot can be clearly seen contrasting with the purplish tentacles.
