Just saw the eel yesterday. The LFS has decided to keep it. It is only about 8" long and by far the coolest eel I've ever seen. It grabbed a hold of the owners finger when he tried to chase it out of a conch shell.
One of my favorites,
I had one a few years ago, not as aggressive as others .
The bigger they get, the brighter that yellow gets in their mouth.
I heard you should be careful if they bite, it contains some bacteria.
4 year update. I decided to buy the eel shortly after starting this post. Before the bashing begins on the other occupant, it is captive bred, probably with the intent for food, but sat in a pet store for a long time. At $50 I figured I would give it a home. I have much much larger tanks to move it to when the time is right. So let's focus on the eel.
