Yellow Pagoda Loosing Color

Hi,

My Yellow Pagoda is begining to loose color--turning grey.

Water conditions are good--its in a med flow area.

Mid-level under in 75gal tank w/2x150 MH.

Any suggestions?:eek2:

Mine when I first bought it way yellow. It's since turned to a greenish color. Never retained the yellow color. I've had it now for over 5 years and it's more than doubled in size. If the poylops are open and it looks OK other than the color, then don't worry about it. I don't know if there really is a yellow pagoda in the wild. It may have been died.

Here's an older pic of it from '04. That's it in the bottom of the tank. I don't have any new good pic's of it but there are some other pics in my gallery.

I think it was dyed. Mine was bright yellow when I bought it also. There may be some actual yellow ones but I haven't seen any. Are the poylops out like they are on the one in my pic?

Mine was BRIGHT YELLOW, the guy at the LFS said that when they come in, the water in the bag is BRIGHT YELLOW. They must Dye these things... Who would do such a Dumb thing? It did live as a cool mustard color and even began to flourece,:) as it did not when it was screaming yellow. Mine eventually died, I don't think it liked my PC's and then when I moved it to the MH, I put it too high and it could not adjust:(
If the polyps are fat and out, then yours will live and continue to morph color along the way:)
Give it plenty of light, and high quality h2o:)

Here's another pic I found of it. It's old though. If your's dosen't have it's poylops open like this one, then it's not doing well. How long have you had it?

sounds like you got a dyed coral... itll turn grey and if it survives will color up a bit to its natural color, probably slightly greenish pink

You can see area on right where it is turning white/grey--also you can see where coraline algae is growing.

Bottom is smooth and white and yellow.

The tissue looks dead, is it spreading? What are the parameters of the tank? Also, turbinarias usually need alot of flow to stay happy.

Again, how long have you had it? Have you ever seen the poylops out like in the pic's I posted?

You may want to think about breaking off the section where it's turned grey and has the coraline on it before it spreads too much farther. As far as flow and light, I've kept mine over the years under just about all conditions and he's done fine. Started with 100W of PC and now have 175 W MH and 220 W PC and he's fine. They seem to be hardy corals. What are your water parameters?

Mine was a natural green when bought, two days ago it turned bron, now changing back. ?????
Might have to due with being burnt by a green Rhodactis a few weeks ago...
