Yellow tang problem

I've had my yellow tang for about 3 months now and all he does is hide, he peeks out through the rock work sometimes and will swim out real fast to grab food but that's it. I just had my water tested last week and water parameters are perfect. Anyone have any idea why he might be hiding?

-2 Ocellaris Clown
-1 Yellow Tang
-1 Fire Fish
-1 Wheeler Goby
-1 Engineer Goby

- StarPolyps
- Red Mushrooms
- Cabbage Leather
- Hammer
- Birdsnest
- Green Polyp Leather
- Montipora
- Duncans

Full tank shot?

I've noticed with minimal rock work or space, fish in general hide more. Some Nouri tied down to something, & more hiding places might entice him out.

I can't post a picture right now but it's got about 60ibs of live rock in there and plenty of hiding spots

Assuming no disease (3 months ought to resolve one way or the other) or bullying, maybe you just have a timid fish. Though it may seem counterintuitive, I have been able to entice a timid fish out into the open by adding a similar fish. Maybe something like a Kole Tang (QT first though). Depending on the size of the Yellow, 75 is a bit tight though.

Yea it might be a bit small for two tangs:/ I've heard a couple chromis or a flasher wrasse can bring timid fish out of hiding, do you know if there's any truth to that?

The concept of 'dither' fish is sound. I have used this approach many times with timid angels, though honestly I've not ever had a timid tang. Chromis always worked pretty well for me.

Not necessarily, but a grazing item like that would draw him out for longer periods of time.
