yellow tip ritteri treatment

Purchased a nice yellow tip ritteri from my LFS and it looked to be doing ok then went downhill last night so I decided to start treatment ASAP. Unfortunately he was on 2 rocks so when trying to remove I cut his foot a little bit and couldn't remove him from the rock he was on which is actually sort of a good thing since he has the strength to stick to that rock even with me trying to remove him. I checked this morning and he was inflated and fine but mouth was still open. Pics from last night and shot of the hospital tank. Stupid Jager heater was off also and tank was at 76F but I raised it so it should be at 78 by tonight. I lost my QT light which was a nice LED Philips bulb (thanks Taylor!) with clip on reflector and worked really well especially with my gigs. All I have is a brand new 150MH pendant, 2 bulb 6 watt T5 (old refugium) and a clip on LED which is cheap. Should I use the MH? I can probably bring home a 2 bulb 24 watt T5 if needed.

me too just made 20 gallons of RO water so I'm ready to go. Will give him probably 3 hours of light before dosing another round of cipro after water change

well doesn't look to be doing good after 2nd round of cipro. His mouth is open like I've never seen before on an anemone. I'll give him another 3 hours of light before treating his third round of cipro and if I don't see any improvement I'll be moving to Septra. Hopefully that will help.

How are conditions in the QT? Water params? Water change % and frequency? Stable temps? Good flow? One of the risks of treatment is that we are taking sensitive creatures and putting them in sub-standard conditions that may stress them.

Also, I would not stop Cipro -- you should finish the course to avoid creating resistance. You could add septra in conjunction with the Cipro though.

Do not stop the Cipro no matter what, and continue to do the full treatment. I wouldn't even add anything else to this treatment. Just do the Cipro and hope your anemone pulls through. Not all are saved it depends on how soon it's caught and treatment begins. Cipro is the best for treating anemones, there is nothing better. But for sure don't go mixing antibiotics or anything else for that mater.

Go read a bunch of the threads of treating anemones with Cipro and you will see many up and down appearance of them. Some looking so bad they could croak at any minute. but most all of them pulled through. Have faith!

water param are ok temp is 78 1.025 sg ph 8.1 and I do 100% water changes every night flow is 250gph fluval powerhead

I feel your pain man, I'm treating my Ritteri as we speak. It's also looked like it's on deaths door. Mine keeps bouncing around between looking decent with its mouth almost closed and fully inflated to completely limp deflation with a mouth about as big as that. I guess it's just one of those wait and see things, but at least we can say we're doing all we can.

Ya mine was basically dead looking this morning, mouth gaping so bad you can see a hole to the rock. Pretty certain this guy is a goner...

so after 4 treatments he looks to have finally responded. Still far from good but he picked himself up a bit not flopped on the bottom and he's inflated but mouth still open however no hole going through it anymore. I honestly thought he was a goner when I saw the hole in the mouth and he still might be but he finally looks better than he was the prior day.

6th treatment and looks good and is always inflated and sticky now while being sensitive to touch however his mouth is still inflated not necessarily gaping but inflated and it isn't going away, any thoughts?
