YellowWhopper

In Memoriam
I just got fish labeled yellow whopper. I can't find any information on them.

When I get home I will get a picture. It looks like a yellow version of the goldfish cracker mascot with tiger stripes.

Sounds like a golden trevally also known as they yellow pilot fish, these fish get HUGE and are super active, look up golden trevally on google images and you will see what i mean some of these fish are half the size of the fishermen holding them. In the wild they school around whale sharks and other giant fish but in your tank they will commonly group around the largest active fish. I would suggest a tank of a few THOUSAND gallon just because of they're size and speed. If you have the option i would give it to a public aquarium.

What is there growth rate? I usually trade in my fish when they get to big. I traded 2 peacock bass, a Jardi and a TSN for them and some equipment.

The whoppers were in the damsel tank. Lol. Got them at the damsel price.

Tank stats please. They grow very fast so you should do they right thing for the fish and return it right now. You will have to wait a month for the tank to cycle before you add fish. In the future it is a very bad idea to trade fish in, think of it this way if a adopt a child while they are a nice cute baby but then get rid of him or her when they get to be a teenager. Also next time do us all a favor and never buy a fish with the word whopper in its name

I will give the tank stays in my tank thread. It is set up in a way to have little to no cycle. Babies suck. I will just adopt a teenager. It will be eaiser.

How big is your tank? They get about 2 feet in size, and very active. Need a very large tank, the size few hobbyists have. Especially when talking putting several in a tank. Best kept in large public aquarium tanks.

As for trading it in when it outgrows the tank, going be hard to find a taker. Pretty much only public aquariums have large enough tanks, and the don't normally accept cast offs from hobbyists.

Just saw you started the tank yesterday :(

Trevally are open ocean fish in the Jack family. All of which are picky about water quality, which in a newly set up tank will not be adequate.

I smell something in here.

Fish :D

Sad thing, I've seen this scenario play out far too many times in my LFS days :( Always ended in one of two ways, they finally took my advice over the idiot rival store that let them do it, or they crashed and burned with lots of dead fish :(

So far this guy has had some good advice from the good people of RC, lets see if he takes or.....

The fish place had told me they are a type of damsel. I got 5 of them for $25. I used half natural sea water and store mixed, tims bacteria and bio pellets. Will this establish my aquarium. I just traded a few 1.5ft+ fish. I don't really want to deal with it again. Plus they ate a lot of their tank mates. I will go back today or tomorrow.
