Would you 'Interceptor' a new Red Dragon frag? I've heard that various 'deepwater' species don't suffer this treatment very well and I certainly don't to put either of us through unnecessary stress.
Hmmm, are you sure it's the interceptor itself causing problems? It's been my experience that acros have no problem with interceptor, often having full PE during the whole bath. Even "delicate" or deepwater acros. I've never lost an acro to interceptor (killed plenty in my tank over the years, though ). YMMV I guess.
It's not interceptor that people complain is hard on deepwater corals....its coral RX or anything similar to that.
FWIW...I've done interceptor treatments on the whole tank including the Red dragon and they are fine......SPS don't even flinch when it comes to interceptor.
I'd be leery w/it due to the cost. I just lost mine yesterday. My tank overflowed, and I had to fill the tank back up.. with the water I had on hand (came from a LFS/and 10 gallons RSCP which I was planning on easing into switching from D+D).. it spiked my alk by 1.2dkh (from 8.7-9.9) and poof it RTN'd, it and 1 other frags. I've got a ton of sps in my tank, and it and my other really nice pink polyp piece from ATL just gone.. I'm super bummed atm.. I've only had it for a few weeks and it had already stared to encrust over the glue
With that said, since it and only 1 other piece went I'd say that it is a bit on the delicate side from my experience.
